No book but my parents. Both readers as well as every one of my 5 siblings. Reading was important in our family

My mom gave me Nancy Drew books which started my love of reading. They were my daughter's favorite books when she was little.
I borrowed the Complete Casebook of Sherlock Holmes when I was bout thirteen. My first 'adult' book. Loved it!Crime thrillers have been my 'bag' ever since. :)
Hardy Boys! As I read, I had pictures of Frank and Joe and friends in my mind. It opened up my imagination as a reader.
What was the name of the book?? I feel ashamed now..I have always loved reading the assigned books we got in school. A lot more than my peers. It was much later when i figured that reading for myself could be fun. The book was called "Girl in pieces" i think.

But I grew up in a house FULL of books. My parents told me I got mad because when I got to school (kindergarten) they wouldn't teach me to read... so I taught myself.
