ABANDONED. YA possibly, sorta like a dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde

I read this book probably ten years ago I think it was published 90s - 00s. About a guy that took some sort of medicine or something and became a "mr. Hyde" type of thing. I think the cover was black maybe red on it. I cant think of the title or much else about it. Thanks for the help if you can 👍🏻

Can you tell us more about the guy - his job, why he took the medicine/potion, rich/poor, family/friends, etc.?

What's the tone - horror, mystery, thriller/adventure, some romance, etc.?

Another Jekyll, Another Hyde by Daniel Nayeri turned up while searching, but it was published in 2012.

I think I saw, but didn't read, a YA novel from that time that seemed pretty directly taken from Jeckyl and Hyde -- like the character was even named Miss Hyde. It was either a girl protagonist, or the potion made the the MC change into a girl.

Miriam, are you thinking of Jacqueline Hyde by Robert Swindells perhaps?

Possible, although the cover isn't familiar and I was recalling something that sounded a bit more late-teen. That looks good, though; I'll see if I can find it!
