Introduction

January 8, 1948

I love Jack with all my heart and soul. I'm his mother, so I have a right to keep him and love him…right? He's my baby boy, after all! I showed Jack my love three hours ago. I killed Peter, my ex-husband, who got custody over Jack and took him away from me. I then killed Jack, so he wouldn't have to live with a stranger who didn't love him! I saved Jack from that horrible fate. He's mine, and mine alone! I know that the police will find evidence and put me away for premeditated murder, perhaps even kill me, and that I wouldn't be able to be with Jack. My poor baby…I wish it didn't have to be this way! I had to kill my poor baby, and now I have to kill myself, too, so I can be with Jack. I love my baby boy. He turned eight three months ago, did you know that? I was so proud. My baby boy had turned eight! He was taken from me at the age of three, and I never forgave Peter for that. So I killed that bastard, and I killed my precious baby boy too…but it'll be worth it. We'll see each other in the afterlife. He'll love me as his mother and I'll love him as my son. We'll be happy for all eternity…

Alice Ripp

Inspector Evans gently closed the diary and placed it on the table. "This is enough evidence to prove that Alice Ripp was a murderer and killed her ex-husband, Peter, and eight-year-old son, Jack. I say case closed, let's move on. Alice Ripp committed the crime, and took her own life to pay for it. Officer Peterson, it's over. We have figured out who the murderer is, so don't worry. She's dead. Goodbye, officer."

Officer Peterson sighed and nodded, admitting defeat. He turned on his heel and left the inspector's officer, gently closing the door behind him. He shouldn't be worried. After all, Alice was dead! She wouldn't be killing anyone else anytime soon. He smiled to himself as he left the building. He could go home now and have a nice, warm supper made by his beloved wife, Sarah Peterson.

Unfortunately for him, he wouldn't be having supper anytime soon. He wouldn't be having supper ever again, for in that moment, an axe came down and decapitated him, separating his head from his body. His body, hidden in an alley, was found the next day. The killer, a man named John Dinkley, was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. John Dinkley insists that he had been possessed by a demon, but no one listened. He was sent to a psychiatric hospital, where he died soon after. He was found hanging from the ceiling. He had committed suicide, as did the many others who were placed in that room, all in the same way; hanging themselves, as Alice Ripp did that dreadful night.
