R (theravengirl) | 32 comments Hey!!! I'm looking for some good YA (not NA!) books to read.

1.) I'd really like a book with a super slow burn, star-crossed, or starts-with-dislike romance. It can be any subject, though I really like kingdom fantasy or historical. It doesn't have to be the main plot (in fact, I'd prefer if it weren't.)

I love Leigh Bardugo, Marissa Meyer, Cassandra Clare, etc. (Please don't recommend Sarah J. Maas, I've got it covered!)

2.) I'm also looking for books where a main character has to disguise themselves as the opposite gender.

You guys are the best, so... YA readers, I choose you! :)

1.) Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore - kingdoms, star crossed,...
2.) The Selection (The Selection, #1) by Kiera Cass - kingdom, starts with dislike romance and slow burn
3.) Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes, #1) by Sara Raasch - star crossed, with little bit disguise and many kingdoms :)
4.) Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate - definitely star crossed (book is better than the movie ;) )

if you want to know more, just ask :)

In a time and place far far away there existed a king and queen who had shared much heartfelt fondness until it was made plain the queen would never bear a child. Also a warrior of the far northern highlands finds that the love he shares with his wife will never result in a child. Witchcraft, murder, escapes across desolate wilderness result. If a child is cast into the light it must be born in darkness.
Such is my novel, Sword and the Thistle
Based on Queen Joan of Scotland married to King Alexander at ten.
It is the sequel to Celtic Blood
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggy-p... the story of the survival of clan MacKay when all in the kingdom would have the last holder of the name dead because of the blood he bears.

Not amnesia, but the harrowing account of Alzheimers disease, Still Alice
is without doubt incredibly moving and insightful.
