two books in series that I know of. The only one I remember has the H running into a bicycle in the park and being taken to hospital for stomach puncture. H is a Dr. who has to do the surgery and is co-worker with couple from the other book. Has some issues due to age difference between himself and the H.

Does a harlequin series mean the same characters in both books, and by the same author?

Or could it just mean different authors, maybe different characters, but some kind of unifying setting, like hospitals/doctors?

Linda, when did you read this or when was it published? What country/region/city etc. is the setting?

Harlequin like Special Edition or Presents, was in the late 70s early 80s. I don't remember where just that he was a Dr. and she a patient and friend of people in first book.
He didn't want to get involved with her due to age difference.

This is Afterglow by Catherine Coulter. The H is David and the h is Chelsea. The first book in the series is Aftershocks with Elliot Mallory who is 38 and Georgina (George) Hathaway who is 23.

Edit to add that Elliot and George had Chelsea and David come to dinner and were matchmaking their two friends. Chelsea was a author of historical romance books. I think she was in her late 20's and David was in his mid to late 30's. He thought she was a fluff and she thought he was a yuppy.
