Speaking of which, I wish JFK HAD been saved...leaving a better world TODAY. I can dream, right? :-)

I wasn't trying to get political, I swear! I just found it interesting that King wrote this novel, at least in part, because he disagrees with the rest of his family about what really happened with JFK. If everything is released all theories will go out the door for the facts. ;-)

Kenneth, you're right that King was the right age when it happened, a young man, part of that generation that wanted to change things. I can't think of the right words, but he's a part of that generation that lived through all the turmoil of that time. I was a toddler when it happened.
Mr. Books, I forgot to say Trump is full of "something else" as well as hot air. ;-)
Back to the novel, I really thought Jake was going to get to KNOW Oswald and possibly stop him in THAT way. I also wish he had traveled back to a year much closer to the date, like Jan 1963 or even 1962 sometime. 1958 made it a bit draggy for me, as it was around 5 years earlier.
The suspense would have been better if he arrived closer to the date, in my humble opinion. :-) The aftermath could have been explored more too----in both cases of him surviving and not surviving.

I agree, but think King chose such a big time gap to drive home how committed Jake was to doing it. It was a simple "pop back, fix it, come home" deal. It really was a slog for the character too.

I agree with you on the other thing Trump is full of LOL. Like you I was a toddler during this time frame. The small amount of time he spent with the aftermath was just right in my opinion. It let Jake know how badly things went because Kennedy lived. It shows us what could happen if someone lives and how history as we know it can be drastically altered.

Kenneth, you're right that King was the right age when it happened..."
I thought the longer time gap gave King time to develop those other storylines, flex his "horror-story" muscles, and really entertain us. I agree with mrbooks about Sadie, she was the heart of the story for me.

I supposed Jake might not have met Sadie if he traveled back to 1963, or 1961. Or even 1959....Unless King wrote it that way. :-)
MrBooks and Nick, I did like the part on how Jake found love and happiness with Sadie too. I also didn't think he would bring her back to "his time", as she eventually believed he was from the future (I didn't think she would).

Right mrbooks, I was hoping she would go but knew in my heart that it wouldn't work.
