sorting out Mark Smith

Keep a text file (I use Notepad, but anything similar works) will a simple list of all the instances of that author:
#spaces -TAB - ID - TAB- Description/title
e.g.
Mark Smith -TAB- 40911 -TAB- Children's books
and so on for each variation you find. I find it helps me keep straight whether I've over-separated, and with "which one was the 3^ again?".
(-TAB- is to show where I stick a tab, just because it helps keep things in columns for quick reference)

am wondering about these books https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8...
The author doesen't match the cover at all?
Perhaps someone more into fantasy who can explain that? (in the series there are some books sorted under Livingstone and Jackson)
https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
(and why don't I get the name added as "topic is about"? grmpf)
At the moment that is one big mess - which you can expect with that name ... should be quite common.
It may be worth a thought to move the author to another spacing and leave the default for all future and non sortable ones..
So, if you're in the mood to let's going your head a bit crazy due to lots of Mark's - go ahead!
Every correct movement helps I think.
edit:
the Children's author already HAS a GR profile
Mark^Simon^Smith https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
(went on his HP linked on twitter and there were the Gobblegook books :) which means the profile text should probably be deleted at all
Mark(6 spaces)Smith https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... = another children's author
Mark^A.^Smith = politics/history
Mark^D.^Smith = Metal Detecting books
Mark E.^^^Smith = wheelchair guy
