um... Maybe it's because even when Jason was in the Roman Camp, he had never had feelings for Reyna? They did become co-Praetors and stuff but I recall that Jason only thinks of Reyna as a friend since then. So I don't think Piper is to blame for that.

Or if you are marrying, please tell me when your wedding is so that I can attend it!

Rick has been trying for too much romance in this series and he's overdone it a lot. Taken away from the enjoyment a bit with that. And i was thinking this before it was decided that Nico had a random Percy crush. I'm just confused now.
P.S. I'm also one of those guys who likes it when 5 different girls like the Mc so I wasn't all that happy when Calypso was brought back into the story just to switch over to Leo :(

I mean, probably cuz she thinks so high of Jason. NOT because she hates Percy or thinks of him as this dumb, weak guy, but because Jason is her boyfriend. Of COURSE she's gonna like Jason some more than Percy. I mean, that would be weird if she thought Percy was a lot better than Jason. It wouldn't make any sense.
I think Piper is a very strong, and honest character. Sure she has her flaws, but everyone does, characters would be dull without em.

2. Her insecurities are relatable.
3. She is friendly.
4. She is determined to be prepared for anything, as seen in House of Hades.
5. She stood up ..."
Can I just take a moment of your time to say you all most of you made very good points.
And that it's impossible for everyone to hate/love one character and that this is all good as long as ideas from both sides are shared and there is minimal bashing.
Can I just say I'm really thankful for all the eye-openers here.
And can I just say, miss, that these 20 reasons are really, really precious to me now.
I don't think I can say anything y'all haven't said yet, but in summary, I just think Piper is realistic. Valid insecurities, opinions she doesn't change for others, friendliness, knowing who she is and what she wants, and all that jazz... I love her for it.
She can sound annoying about Jason and Percy, but as mentioned, she never intended to hurt Reyna. Plus, she doesn't know Percy like we do and she doesn't see things the way we saw them. She just knows what she knows, and she acts--rather appropriately for normal people-- in my opinion. All characters have flaws, and I think it's unfair to think that how she "sounds annoying, acts selfishly, and fights weakly" isn't accepted like all the other flaws.
I fully believe that if one person can improve on all the negative things called out on her, it's Piper. Or at least, if one person could try their absolute hardest to be better than what people degrade her to be.

This is just my fingers being ashamed of the rest of me and typing calmly.
What is this?
More importantly, how many friendship fics of these two should I start reading?

Sorry if I too late comment :D

I deeply agree with you.
I deeply agree with you.
Piper has her pros and cons but I don't think people should treat towards her so strongly. yes, Piper can be dramatic at times but that might just be Aphrodite acting up or her blessing acting up. I think its just part of who she is daughter of Aphrodite and all. In my opinion, she might not be your fav but she's plenty strong and plenty awesome! She is actually quite nice, just the Aphrodite thing might give people the girly-girl feeling towards Piper. THE END. Sorry that it's so long. : )
Piper has been my favorite character ever since Lost Hero :D I don't get her hate, she is an amazing character! And we have the same name XD

I hate how she says she tries not to be a stereotypical Aphrodite girl, when she's only on the quest for Jason and seems to think about him 24/7. She doesn't even have a reason to worry too much about him, unlike Percy & Annabeth do for each other.
The fact they are dating is also pretty stupid because 75% of their memories together were fake.
I just wish Piper embraced that she was a Daughter of Aphrodite, then honed her fighting skills so that people wouldn't think she was just some dome Aphrodite spawn.
When it finally looked like the readers were going to get a competent Aphrodite child, Piper kind of failed in that regard by being almost as shallow as her cabin. That's really too bad since every other Aphrodite kid is either a traitor (Silena), a bully (Drew), or a cheerleader (the rest of the Aphrodite cabin).
The good news is that the Romans gave us Michael Kahale, who is a son of Venus and knows how to fight.

Totally agree with you!!!

Someone wrote earlier that bashing on a character is like bashing on the book. Don't hate me, but I am bashing on the book. I didn't read the last to chapters of House of Hades due to my utter boredom and discontent. I place the blame on Piper and Jason. In my eyes, Jason is a bigger issue than Piper. Without comparing him to Percy, he has many issues. Up until HoH, I found his character to be powerful, but bland and he was not a great friend. Sure his romance with Piper helped a little bit, but unlike with Percabeth and even Hazel and Frank, they didn't need to be together. Their relationship could end and I wouldn't shed a tear. Jason hardly seems committed to the relationship and his half-hearted devotion to Piper makes me hate him. In contrast, Piper obsesses over Jason, talking about how unimpressive Percy is by comparison (Why she compares the two is still a wonder to me. Percy aided in one battle and Jason aided in another, but other characters were also important and Jason had no 'age 16' prophecy.) There flawed relationship was a fail on Riordan's part and it made the series unbearable. I read The Lost Hero and The Son of Neptune ten times each, but once I hit The Mark of Athena, my interest and dedication to the series dimmed (thanks for that Piper and Jason). By Blood of Olympus, I was waiting for it to end. Piper herself is not a bad character, but her relationship and odd thoughts make me despise her. Why does she like Jason in the first place?

I'm neutral about Piper. Don't like her but don't hate her either.

I completely agree, and the reason I think people like Percy and Annabeth together so much is that they recognize (and love) the flaws in each other. You can tell from their nicknames, Seaweed Brain/Kelp Face and Wise Girl that they are cutely affectionate for each other, but Annabeth knows that Percy isn't the smartest, but loves that he tries, and appreciates/accepts his "fatal flaw" of loyalty and Percy accepts her flaw of hubris.
I think even Jason knows that Piper has flaws, but she doesn't think he has any and somewhat idolizes him. If you asked her, Jason is better than Percy, but if you asked Jason, he would probably think of them equally. Piper also just has boring powers. They are useful, but I think Silena Beauregard was a more interesting daughter of Aphrodite than she is. She doesn't have to practice charmspeak to be good at it, which doesn't leave room for potential possibilities.

I'm not a fan of the poor little rich girl act. It's overdone.
I also think she's hypocritical. She cut her hair badly with scissors to escape attention, but I think that would cause more attention.
As Anton already mentioned, she tries not to be a typical Aphrodite girl, but she is. She fawns over Jason to no end (what's so good about him?). And what's wrong with sometimes wearing make-up or wanting to look good?

I also find it funny that Jason knows he has flaws but thinks Piper is perfect, while Piper knows she has flaws, but thinks Jason is perfect.
It's like they are trying so hard not to offend each other so that they don't break up with each other. I think this way of thinking is stupid, because if your boyfriend/girlfriend is doing something stupid or dangerous, you have to be able to tell him/her to stop.

I started to like Piper in the fourth book because she was getting stronger.
Actually, I really like Piper and all the others demigods, and I am not sure of why I don't like her at the beggining.
Just my opinion :3

Have you read the book? She is really strong and the visions of the knife helps her too. She is completely different from her siblings. And just because she isn't the best fighter, doesn't mean she's weak.
I cannot change your opinions but please don't give hate.

WTF is with the hate these days
You guys should stop being haters and get a life.

okay let's see, she is whiney, half the time she doesn't even know what's happening around her, and if it wasn't for jason or leo,she'd..."
Perhaps you should throw yourself off the ship.
She saved their lives for so many times
She doesn't underestimate Percy, she simply thinks Jason's better cos he is her boyfriend
