Regina Osiecki | 296 comments I remember a passage of the book in the beginning featuring a handsome and regal sorcerer (or warrior?) with long silver hair who was walking outside with a short deformed/ugly man carrying his magical weapon or sword and following him. Does anyone know of the book? The silver haired man and little man following him had unusual names

Regina I deleted the duplicate thread for this.

When did you read this book? What age range was it aimed at? Do you remember anything about the cover? What format did you read it in--dead tree, electronic, audio?

Regina Osiecki | 296 comments I read it somewhere in the 2000 to 2009 time frame. It might've been a dark cover

message 4: by Regina (new)

Regina Osiecki | 296 comments I think it was a hardcover book

Regina Osiecki | 296 comments I think it was a blue or black cover

Christine | 140 comments The Summer Tree by Guy Gavriel Kay (first book in the Fionovar Tapestry), begins with a tall, silver haired wizard, and his companion, a dwarf. Kay is a Canadian author. The series was published first in the 80s, but is still in print (and is excellent!). Hope this helps!

Christine | 140 comments PS- Loren Silvercloak is the name of the wizard in The Summer Tree.

The Summer Tree by Guy Gavriel Kay - Christine's suggestion

message 11: by Regina (new)

Regina Osiecki | 296 comments Sounds interesting but I don't think it's the summer tree

Elizabeth | 22 comments It's not Wormwood is it? I'm pretty sure the two characters in the opening scene fit that description, though I can't remember if it was a sword or something else that the servant was carrying

message 14: by Regina (new)

Regina Osiecki | 296 comments Nah I don't think so

Regina, was Liz's suggestion or Shadowcthuhlu's suggestion your book?

message 19: by Regina (new)

Regina Osiecki | 296 comments I don't believe so, but they look interesting

Shannyn Smith | 2 comments I'm wondering whether it's Balgarath the Sorcerer by David Eddings? Probably a little too obvious.

message 21: by Regina (new)

Regina Osiecki | 296 comments Nope, the main white haired character was described as arrogant and regal looking and much younger and they were traveling to perform a ritual/spell of some kind if I remember but thanks for the suggestion

message 22: by Regina (new)

Regina Osiecki | 296 comments I just looked at an excerpt of a book (Shadowmancer) by the same author G P Taylor who wrote Wormwood (Elizabeth’s suggestion) and it matches from what I remember reading. So Shadowmancer by GP Taylor is the book! Thanks all!
