Can we choose multiple awards for this challenge? I see a good opportunity to read a number of books on my physical bookshelf. I know my hubby would like to see me make a dent in these.
Welcome Danielle, Tricia, Rabaab, Sarah & Tasha! Can't wait to see what you read.Janet, I think it would be fine for you to use as many awards as you'd like. As long as what you're reading was a nominee for a literary award, it counts!

really well done book, was really hard to put down between readings
Just completed for first selection, nominated for Costa Book Award for Fiction - Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. I love Tudor/Elizabethan English history and really appreciated the story being told from Cromwell's perspective. It was the writing that I had difficulty with in this book. The author writes from Cromwell's perspective, but not in the first or true third person. It made it confusing to figure out who was speaking. Other than that, it was an interesting read and I'll be continuing with the series. Worth reading. 4 stars1/6
You're updated, Tasha, Karma & Megan!Megan, I tried reading Wolf Hall and just couldn't get into it because I had zero background knowledge and it was convoluted, like you said. It sounds like it's a lot of fun if you know the era, though!

6: The Ruby in Her Navel by Barry Unsworth - a Man Booker Prize nominee

Yes, I think a background in the history is a must for the book. And I still had points that I had to resort to google for;)

Just completed my 2nd book - nominated for Florida Teens Read - Unwind by Neal Shusterman. While I appreciate the concept behind this book, I also found it incredibly disturbing. Writing is alright. I would not recommend this book for any child under the age of 17. 3 stars2/6
Just finished number 2 of 12: Best Translated Book Award: The African Shore by Rodrigo Rey Rosa
I love short and meaningful stories. This was an amazing read that I honestly may never have heard of without this challenge.

There are tons of wonderful books out there that have never won any awards, no matter how many awards they've been nominated for.
For this challenge, choose a literary award (or two or three) that appeals to you. For a list of literary awards, click here: https://www.goodreads.com/award
Your goal is to read as many books as you can that have been nominated for but never won that specific award. Set your goal, and do your best to reach it by the end of the quarter!

Kaitlin will be our leader for this challenge. Thank you, Kaitlin!
