I'm not sure if anyone else started, I thought Kat was ready to make threads and Suzanne and Ctgt were ready to jump in so I added it to the group shelf and started reading.
I'm enjoying it much like the others. I like the stuff with Finan. He's been mostly a mystery since he was introduced, and we're finally get some of his backstory. I can't imagine what it must feel like to have killed his nephew, or worse his own son, while they were cursing him with their last breathe. I'm looking forward to the confrontation with his brother.
Haesten returns yet again to cause trouble for Uthred, only this time he doesn't weasel his way out of it. Uthred has Aethelstan kill him. Without his sword. Proving his lying about being converted to Christianity and hopefully redeeming Uthred's actions with all but the asshole priests who don't like him anyways.
I really like Leofstan so far. I hope he sticks around. It's cool that he learned under Beocca. I am curious to find out about his wife. Why is she covered up like that? At first I thought he was maybe a plant by Ragnall, and that someone else was hiding under all those covers.
The whole thing still strikes me as suspicious though.

As I'm reading the last chapter in this section, I'm wondering if Mus wasn't the one pretending to be Leofstan's wife and if he is who he really claims to be. Maybe he's an imposter working for Ragnall?
Wow. Brida has gone crazy since Ragnar's death. Of course her hatred of Uthred predates that, but to geld his priest son? Brutal.

Yeah, I prefer camping in the spring/fall. I used to camp in the winter too, but apart from cabin camping those weren't normally my favorite trips.

I love Uthred's predictions that keep getting proved wrong. He is such a battle genius, and his logic makes so much sense I just got to the part "So no, he's not coming here." And he came the next morning.

And what an end to the section! The whole scene with killing all the captives was sure brutal, and I did NOT expect the last person to be Uthred's priest son - yikes! Uthred didn't seem super worried about being cursed, but the men may not agree.

I thought the same thing about Mus, that scene when they were introduced seemed odd to me.

The Finan stuff was great, it really added some depth to that character although now I'm thinking Cornwell might kill him off at the end of this book.
