SOLVED. Man with wolf like characteristics set in Middle Ages. [s]

I read this book in elementary school in the mid '80s. I know it was above my reading level, so maybe a YA historical fiction?

The main character was a man that has wolf like characteristics. Extra hair growth is the one I remember the most. His urine was pink (noted in the book, but not in a gross way). I believe people shunned him.

I believe he rescued a woman and they had to travel together to get her to safety. Kind of a Beauty and the Beast story where she is afraid of him until she gets to know him. I don't remember if they fall in love.

I think it was set in the Middle Ages. Or sometime where there are castles and raids on villages..........

I have been looking for the book for 25 years. Any leads will be greatly appreciated!

I'm pretty sure that's by Gloria Skurzynski. Man-Wolf or Manwolf may have been the title?
