30-day Challenge! - Day 27: Reading gear! What do you use for a bookmark?

As I listen to audio books, I often color, sometimes I color mock ups of what I plan to color as final work. Decent parts of mockups I sometimes cut out and use as page markers. Right now I have some leaves cut out and glued to cardstock.

If I can’t find a bookmark I use a cinema or theatre ticket (same shape!)

I use the receipt I received with the book. That way I can keep track of how long it is between buying the book to actually reading the book.

I have an assortment of magnetic bookmarks. They work just fine for me as these are small and thin, not bulky. BUT, I mostly use a bookmark that is made of a kind of tapestry cloth with a metal unicorn at the top. It was a gift from my mother when I was about 12 years old. It has made its way through some of the best books ever written, some of the happiest days of my life, and it always reminds me how much my mother loved and understood me.

The ones I have are smaller than a postage stamp, so not too bulky, although if the pages are too thin, I won't use them in those books. I find them particularly useful in cookbooks for when I do my weekly meal planning so that finding the recipes during the week are a breeze. Since I have so many sets of them, I try to match the theme with the particular book I am reading.

I have dozens of bookmarks, mostly free ones from organizations and libraries, but can I find them when I need one? So sometimes I use an envelope or anything else handy. I also have some I bought as souvenirs and then decided they were too nice to use (Hamilton-themed, Anne of Green Gables house, etc.) I am kind of picky in trying to use a larger bookmark in a larger book, having the colors coordinate, etc.

I use actual bookmarks, of which I have dozens. Some were free (I have about a dozen from a local used bookstore and at least that many from various authors), and some were gifted to me by friends. I keep them corralled in a cup with pens and pencils, in three different rooms, so I have one wherever I might need one.

If it's hardcover, with a paper jacket, I sometimes tuck the end of the paper jacket into the middle of the book as a bookmark.

i read off a kindle, so I use the bookmark function.

I just close my eReader, and when I start it up, it remembers where I left off. There are also electronic book markers, to mark something I may want to refer back to.
