I bombed at challenges this year...my reading goals for 2019 - participate and complete monthly/two month challenges and read at least one of our monthly reads...I'm in need of serious help here :)

I didn’t even make my year goal for reading this year! Only read 91 books. I definitely need to make time for more reading next year.

Have any of you joined the Romance Read A Book of The Month Club? It’s got some great authors participating. It’s free to join and you will receive one free e-book a month.

Here is a link to the authors and you can click on join to enter your email if your interested!!

message 3569: by Vega_girl (last edited Dec 31, 2018 11:11PM) (new)

Vega_girl | 6624 comments Start with A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas because that is a nice 4 book series....because once you start Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas you will not be able to stop and it is 7 AMAZING books!!!

Deanna (anovelglimpse) | 6025 comments Mod
Okay. I tried to think of ones that had strong female characters. I hope I'm right about them. LOL.

Bad Penny by Staci Hart
Real Good Man (Real Duet, #1) by Meghan March (first book in a duet)
Flow (Grip, #0.5) by Kennedy Ryan (prequel before Grip, but this whole series)
Atheists Who Kneel and Pray by Tarryn Fisher
Where I Belong (Alabama Summer, #1) by J. Daniels (This is the first book, the second girl is actually more what you're looking for, but this series is worth it)
Scoring Wilder by R.S. Grey
Cry Baby by Ginger Scott
When It's Real by Erin Watt
The Duet by R.S. Grey
The Opportunist (Love Me with Lies, #1) by Tarryn Fisher
The Hardest Fall by Ella Maise
Banking the Billionaire (Billionaire Bad Boys, #2) by Max Monroe (second book, I recommend reading series in order)

I'm sure there are more. I just can't think of them.

Does anyone else struggle to actually not finish a book? I gave up on At the Stroke of Midnight (The Naughty Princess Club, #1) by Tara Sivec at 25% and I hated to do that but I really couldn't get into it...it bugs me when I do that and I haven't done it for like a year...but today I told myself - you have better things to read than this! It wasn't bad but I found a few of the characters unlikeable.

I have only recently let it go.....I used to worry that I had already invested time so I had to see it through...but like you said we have way better books to read...for me its writing style. If an author doesn't drag me into a world with their writing its a no go now....I usually give it 4-5 chapters..

Deanna (anovelglimpse) | 6025 comments Mod
So I read the second book in that series. It was okay...but over the to crazy. I can guess why you didn't want to finish. I think that's okay.

message 3586: by Karen (new)

Karen (readingaway84) | 2519 comments Mod
It was a little crazy...and I didn't care for the humor...i think the author was trying to be funny but it came across as annoying. I really enjoy Tara Sivec's contemporary Romance Novels (the non rom-coms), but her romantic comedies are not from me. I've read her chocolate lovers series (another rom-com) and felt the same way...her humor and mine do not mesh.

When preparing for a probable ice storm with possible power outages this weekend:

-propane tank full - CHECK
-flashlights with working batteries - CHECK
-plenty of nonperishable food - CHECK
-kindles are charged and loaded with books - CHECK

Is it shocking that the last one made the list????

HAHAHA no not shocking at all. I hope the ice storm isn't too bad and you don't lose power. I'm such a wimp out here in California we've been getting a lot of needed rain, but I'm already tired of it. LOL

Just a random comment...I'm sure most of your have already read it, but I wanted to just say I listened to Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren , because it has an "&" sign in the title for our two month challenge. I just loved the book so much. Hazel is now on my favorite character list and I'm so glad the challenge got me to pick it out of my way too big TBR list where tons of great books get lost in. :/

Hm... I think I've had that happen before. Do you have another email address you can forward it to and try to send it to your kindle from? See if it works from that one?
