So I know I'm older but I'm reading a book and the charecter is talking about watching the movie the Bodyguard and how she was in 8th grade at home on video and I'm like WHAT??? I am old because I so was not in 8th grade. So I just wanted everyone to know I am reading a book that is reminding me of my age and that is not fun!!!!!

I teach Junior High (I think that is one of the reasons I love YA books), and I have for 10 years. When you teach and a lesson goes well, you tend to use it year after year. I reference a lot of pop culture in my lessons and I have realized in the past couple of years that my students don't get my references anymore. It makes me feel old. I mean come on though - when trying to explain historical fiction, there isn't a better movie than Titanic or Pearl Harbor - which my students now haven't seen either or heard of them, Oh well time for updates I guess!

Have to love books set in the 80's or 90's! I just read a book that reminded me of my college days. It shocked me when I started thinking about how long ago that was. Time needs to slow down a bit!

I agree!! Water proof Kindles and iPads would be awesome! I read when I'm in my hot tub and I always worry I will accidentally drop it.

I used to love swimming ... Over the course of the last few years I have noticed that sometimes I go to the beach or to the pool and don'T even TOUCH THE WATER! I just read and sunbathe ... While I did get my tan faster, I am afraid reading has become an obsession. I will not fight it, though. Too entertaining, hahaha. I would love a waterproof Kindle although I would probably drown because god knows multitasking is not my forte.

Please excuse me but I need to vent!! I am sure some of you have felt my pain, but I am so unbelievably over the "fake"books!!! You're going through Amazon.....you see an awesome cover.....your read the blurb.....you're like "this sounds awesome"....you buy the book.... it's not a book....it like 5 chapters of a book!!! Or a prequel to a real book!!! Don't get me wrong I love prequels and I am even getting into those books that are a series(you know the author writes a couple chapters a week) Some of those I love....but I don't want to be tricked into buying them!!! Just saying ....Amazon or authors are getting shady!!

Barb i have had that happen too......burns my butt! Now i try really really hard to read the description very carefully, before clicking buy now!!

It's happened several times!!! Just this morning I bought one and no where did it mention this....it wasn't until I went to the reviews that a reader said it was only a couple of chapters of an up coming book!! Of course I read this after I bought it!!! It was only .99cents, but that's what makes me mad because if they trick enough people to pay that, they are rolling in the dough....they think most people don't mind getting tricked out of .99 cents....thanks what upsets me!!!

Nope, I am still good. I just can't scroll at the bottom of the page. The crack goes clear across the bottom..but it could be worse!! I can still read and everything is working properly.!! I almost had an excuse to get the new kindle paper.....LOL!!

So I feel like I bought a contraband book today. Lol! I have been dying to get my hands on which was released briefly in the US sometime last year, and it got great reviews, then it was pulled from the market (I think the author got a book deal). BUT it was and still is selling in the UK. So after wanting it for almost a year, I bought a copy from amazon marketplace from a store in the UK. $5 shipped is a pretty good price! It came in the mail today! YAY!
