Im looking for an authors name. The first book that I can remember is a worn torn make believe land. A prince was in hiding since infant and discovered at an older age. The hero doesn't believe at first that he is the real prince, to his knowledge the entire royal family had been killed.

There is a scene were they were held captive, the prince was given a drug that was like a date rape drug.

Also the hero ends up having a melt down, and I don't remember why but the prince ran away, to be found two years later working as a soldier.
