How to Get Your Book (Traditionally) Published
This is an all-encompassing, must-read article for traditionally publishing your book.
4 steps to getting a book published

Getting your book traditionally published is a step-by-step process of:

1. Determining your genre or category of work.
2. Finding appropriate agents or publishers for your work.
3. Preparing your submission materials (a query letter, usually).
4. Submitting your materials to agents or editors."

Joanna Elm | 145 comments Jane is terrific/ really knowledgeable about the business. I have her website bookmarked, and subscribe to her Hot Sheet, an essential industry newsletter for authors. I also paid her for an evaluation/critique of my website/blog www.joannaelm.com
It was probably a bit premature because I had only just started posting on it. But, she was extremely thorough and precise. Made a lot of suggestions which I have not yet implemented since I do not have a novel to sell at the moment. The fee included a phone conversation with her to cover any additional questions.

Quantum (quantumkatana) It’s worthwhile pointing out that there are many ineffective or poorly run services out who are more than willing to separate authors from their hard-earned currency—not to mention the predators. The SFWA (established in 1965 and a tireless advocate for writers) has a section, appropriately titled “Writers Beware”, dedicated to advising on shady practices and how to vet services.
