Looking for a trilogy I read about four years ago. In the first book the protagonist is found on a ship and tossed overboard I think. He roams the city and saves a girl. He is then captured and taught combat to be a type of assassin. The book ends with him going to battle and being victorious.
The second book is moreso focusing on the female lead. She is kidnapped and forced to be pregnant and is saved only at the end.
The last book is about preventing a war and the protagonist gives the female lead a serum that forces her to be in love with someone else. The book ends with him turning the king into a vampire.
The king was poisoned as a kid and acts like an idiot but this is a facade. He has actually retained all of his intelligence he just fakes it so that his family doesn't attempt to assassinate him.
You could take a look at the Assassini trilogy, by Jon Courtenay Grimwood. I've only read the first book, The Fallen Blade, and from what I remember, it seems to fit.
