I graduated last fall with a bachelor of electrical engineering and minor in computer engineering.
I love reading different types of books depending on my mood. I like living the characters in the book. +++ off course the series I watch all day and night. I have been on a vacation for two months, doing all the reading and Netflexing lols. Starting my job soon by Sunday :P
I am new to this good reads thingy, so hope I like it.
Nice to meet all of you :p

I have degrees in theatre, business administration, and education. I've been an avid reader since my preschool days with The Bernstein Bears. Instead of buying candy at Wal-Mart when I had been good, I asked my mom for the 2 for $1 classics they used to sell with these great painted illustrated covers.
I love many genres, but I am partial to science fiction, urban fantasy, and mystery/thrillers (with a special love for pulp detective stories).

If you enjoyed The Girl on the Train, you should definitely check out The Woman in the Window if you haven't already.

Welcome, everyone! :)
It's awesome to hear from all of you, and to see the diversity of backgrounds and interests on display. I hope you get a lot out of this group!
If you're not sure where to go from here, there are many ongoing discussion threads you can post in, and you can also create your own if there's something new you want to discuss.
Also, we have reached a large enough group size where I think a buddy system will work nicely! You can find this thread in the "Community" folder. It's a great spot to find like-minded people to read/watch something together

That’s when you know you’re a budding reader- when you give up candy for books as a kid!
I loved reading the Bernstein Bears as a kid! I remember later on a cartoon show came out, even then I knew shows rarely do books justice!

Actually, the term Muscles from Brussels does sound familiar. haha
Well, not too, too many. I’ve watched Drunken Master (a few other Jackie chan movies), Ip Man, The RAID, Kill Bill ( if you count it) and that’s all I can think of right now.
I recently watched the LEGO Ninjago movie and that was pretty bad. 2/5 do not recommend!

I’m thinking of picking up The Shining next because I love the film adaptation by Kubrick. Would you recommend it? I’ve heard the movie /book are very different.

I really liked them, even the fourth one, although I understand that some didn't, but I wouldn't call myself a huge fan. Other movies are my absolute favorites and I definitely like Harrison Ford better as Han Solo.

its such a shame that the film is terrible , has absolutely nothing to do with the book other than character names and the name of the hotel . Stephen kings the shining mini series is superior in every way stays completely true to the novel obviously tiny changes but that's expected

My name is Yvonne, and I live in San Diego, California. Im crazy for fiction. I like to read a series/book or play the game before watching the movie or TV adaptation. If one sneaks by, then Ill read it as fast as I can.
I am counting down until Ready Player One is released, and am pretty excited to see the new Tomb Raider film. Ive played the two new game re-boots and the stories are fantastic!
Currently very much looking forward to the adaptations of the Witcher and the Wheel of Time series that are in development.

Call me C.C. I love books and movies and discussing both (especially from the gold ol' vintage era, or anything spooky!)
This group looks like fun, thought I'd check it out.

I don't favor bands since I listen to anything that is appealing to me for that matter, but I enjoy trailer groups like two steps from hell and audiomachine.
My major is biology with a minor in history.

what house did you place in?I got ravenclaw.

Hey Aj,
what shows were you cast in?

Hey Alex! "A Different World" at age 6, "Here and Now" at age 7 "All my Children" at age 12, "New York Undercover" at age 15 "Daria" at age 17

I should check them out.

That would be great! I started when I was two years old but I always wanted to write so now I'm going for it! Check out my IMDb under Amir Williams for my full bio, and check out my book on here!

Hi Juliana! You are of course free to use this group for your social media project :) What do you have to do for the project?
Also, I would recommend reading Wonder, Ready Player One, The Gunslinger, The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Murder on the Orient Express... These are from a wide variety of genres, not sure what you like so this should cover a lot of bases :) The Big Short is a really interesting nonfiction read if that sort of thing interests you!

Welcome Maisy!

I obviously love book-->movie adaptations. I'm with the majority in that the book is usually better, but I read The Shining recently and it's like one of the only times I liked the movie better!! I know that's really an unpopular opinion, maybe I just need to read another Stephen King because that was my first.
Anyway I'm so excited to be in this group (I've been on Goodreads for ages and didn't know about the existence of Groups until this night!!!)

This year i start to collect/buy books on hard cover or paper back. It is so exciting for me because i always read books on my phone, table or PC.
I like fiction, mystery/thriller and sci-fi books but i read any book as long as it has a good story to tell!
Welcome everyone, I’m so glad you’re all here! Feel free to add me as a friend so I can see your reading updates and add new titles to my growing to-read list!
FYI: Max and I are working out a future reading schedule so that our reading schedule matches with upcoming movies and TV shows! (:
