I remember when Royce was looking at Avempartha for the first time with Eshrahaddon sitting and describing it to him...I kept thinking Oh wow! This place is super beautiful and at the same time completely impossible to access...How are they ever going to do it? But at the same time I was excited to see what they come up with (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[this is obviously speculation, but I wonder if Hadrian is the lost heir. According to the story, one Teshlor Knight remained behind to protect the heir after the death of the Emperor. Obviously he must have taught him the combat disciplines. It must have been passed down through generations. Hadrian says his father taught him combat and Mauvin says he recognises Teshlor combat techniques in Hadrian's fighting style. So it makes me wonder (hide spoiler)]

Chpater five (view spoiler)[ this part with Royce and the wizard was interesting and it makes me wonder about their past. The world that the wizard described is really similar to ours, in some ways, and it's really different from their present. So I'm wondering what's happened to their world? Why the past and the future are so different? (hide spoiler)]

This past world that is being described is probably in Age of myth which CP has read, where the kingdom was in all its glory...A thousand years have passed since then...So all we get to hear are the stories and memories. To find out exactly what has happened to change it we will have to follow that series I guess

Age of Myth is actually set 3,000 years before and the elves (Fhrey) are in charge. It's working toward the world that Esrahaddon knew. I'm loving the connections.

Yeah, they are super interesting. I highly recommend it. Did you like Avempartha more than The Crown Conspiracy, Story_girl?

@CP ....Avempartha was a 5 star read for me... which is really not surprising since all of this author's books have been 5 star reads for me so far (I'm including Rirya chronicles here) :D The only exception was Crown conspiracy which due to some reason didn't quite work for me :(

Finished (view spoiler)[I preferred the first book because of the characters. We met a lot of interesting and funny characters in the first book, and I missed this thing while reading this one. But I enjoyed it nonetheless. It was fast paced, full of adventures and full of bantering and funny dialogues. And now I have a lot of new questions... I just hope to read soon the other books.
And the ending... I think that Hadrian is the "bodyguard" but who would be the Heir? Maybe he's really Thrace, but I suspect not.
And the Church is really resourceful: they just saw all their planning go to hell and they do not panic or else, they just go ahead with a whole new plan. I despise them, but I have to admit that they really are organized and efficient! (hide spoiler)]

Since after Eshrahaddon finds the identity of the heir and bodyguard through magic he doesn't seem too disturbed by the fact that Harridan may have died from fighting that creature.

But the heir has to be someone they do know already (according to what Royce said at the end). I don't think it's Thrace though.

Towards the end when Royce felt someone or several people were watching him from the trees but he found trace of no one I wonder if it was the elves. Maybe they have now gotten to know his heritage given that he was opening doors at Avempartha using his elvish blood.
