End of chapter 27

ROYCE WAS THE HEIR ALL ALONG!!!!!!!!

Did you see that coming??? I didn't!!! Yes over the course of 6 books I have wondered a few times if Royce was the heir but I discarded the thought every time it occurred to me!!

And why did she hide the child from him??? For 6 long years! That's a huge secret to keep

Firstly thank God that Royce is alive....I was not expecting that... But when everything is said and done.... Was there really any need to kill Gwen... Everything else turned out perfectly... Somehow I feel Royce deserved unconditional love way more than a crown.

And Arcadius killed Gwen? Uhh.. . That didn't quite sit well with me... I'm still having trouble digesting that

It isn't explained how Royce is the heir. Like how did that happen? Was he one of those twins who was saved by the midwife? If so... Why and how was the amulet with Degan Gaunt? So Degan and Miranda are siblings by blood? Because Royce grew up in the streets...so clearly the midwife didn't raise him...was he cast out by her?

How did Arcadius even find out that these two were heir and bodyguard? He was not even a real wizard.

So now with this ending Royce will raise a little girl all by himself in a foreign land..uhh ok...not the best choice according to me

And I guessed who Nimbus was! Probably the only thing I guessed in the whole book... And even then I made the connection only when Royce sees him and recognises him as his prison mate!

I'm happy that the Cenzar and Teshlor guilds would be rebuilt... That's one thing I really wanted to happen

And ya... If only...Gwen was still there in Royce's life... In his case it would have been more than fame, glory and power.

Through chapter 24. (view spoiler)[Royce gets better and better with each chapter. Love that guy. And he can talk to the Gilarabrywn! That was so cool. And the stuff with Magnus! That was sad, but amazing.

And Hadrian and Arista have finally admitted their feelings. I'm glad that the romance in these isn't over the top. It's so well done and just little pieces here and there.

And the elves attacked! This is crazy. I don't want them all to die and for everything to be destroyed.

One question though: was there ever an explanation to Royce and Hadrian about Allie? They thought she had been taken and was dead, but now they know she's with Modina...It's not a big deal, just something I was wondering about. I may have overlooked something though. I've been reading these so quickly. (hide spoiler)]

Yes with Magnus we can see that there can be an other side to the story of a negative character

No now that I think about it.. It wasn't explained to Royce and Hadrian where Wyatt found Allie after she was kidnapped..but it hadnt occurred to me before you mentioned

Ok, just finished. And I loved it. I cried, laughed, you know, all the good things.

(view spoiler)[Arcadius having killed Gwen broke my heart. Again. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that. And while I am not happy that she died, I do think that her death made Royce an even better person in a lot of ways. But still...that killed me.

I guess that Royce was the other twin the midwife saved, not Gaunt. But she must have abandoned him somewhere and then kept the medallion...not entirely sure on that.

I really think the ending was brilliant. I would kind of like to see a series about Mercy. Or a book. You know, show us some of what happens to her after Royce raises her. (hide spoiler)]

Haha... I'm really glad you loved it so much.... And thanks for buddy reading... It's the only reason I read through all 6 books... Otherwise I have terrible track record of finishing series

Now I'm waiting for release of The Disappearance of Winter's Daughter

Alright, I'm going to make a few comments here in one comment to count as my BR comments. That's a lot of uses of the word comments. :D

Through chapter 7: (view spoiler)[The Pickerings are my absolute favorites, aside from Royce. Can I marry Mauvin and live at Drondil Fields? Because I really want to. (hide spoiler)]

Through Chapter 9: (view spoiler)[I'm curious to see what happens with Saldur, since Alric and Arista don't realize how bad he really is. And what is the church planning? Obviously they have been controlling things for a long time, just quietly. (hide spoiler)]

Through chapter 10: (view spoiler)[I really like Gwen and wish that we could see more of her. At the same time, I like that there is just kind of a presence of her hanging over things. She isn't mentioned a whole lot, but you can tell how important she is and I love that. Her and Royce are quite the pair and I love it. (hide spoiler)]

Overall this reread was excellent. Now I'm excited to move right into Avempartha, which I love.

Alright, here are a couple of more comments for Avempartha. Definitely liked it just as much this time around.

In regards to Arista: (view spoiler)[She didn't annoy me as much on this reading. I found her rather bland and annoying the first time I read this, but I liked her a lot more this time. Maybe because I have more of her story from having finished the series. Not sure. (hide spoiler)]

In regards to Magnus: (view spoiler)[I like that Royce didn't outright kill him, because it's interesting to have these kind of morally gray characters (Royce himself is one). But I am surprised that there wasn't more of a fuss about him with Mauvin, though I guess he was distraught over Fannen. (hide spoiler)]

About Mauvin: (view spoiler)[Really, I love this guy. The entire Pickering family is brilliant and I wish that I could join their family. I want to be trained to sword fight and live with them at Drondil Fields. I am sad about Fannen though. That is going to break Mauvin's heart. He wasn't even concerned about himself, he just wanted to help his brother. (hide spoiler)]
