Using the Review by Author Function?

I agree, and I've used it. Was and is weird, however, you know your book better than anyone, point out the highlights and leave off trying to sell it. Talk the high points of why it's a good read
I use the review spot either to summarize the book in a few sentences or mention elements that I think readers might find interesting about it. I don't rate it though. There is also a field on Author Central where you can enter something to appear on the product page in "From the Author".
I gave my own book three stars and it got SO many likes as well as fans arguing with me. Highly recommend :-D
An author I like uses it to update fans on upcoming projects and release dates and sequels. He doesn't give any stars, as he doesn't rate his own books, but it's a cool way for fans to find out about current things. I do not like to subscribe to author's mailing lists, and I don't read blogs much, but these "review updates" showing up on my homepage are a good way to stay informed.

Sort of like an "authors react" ... reaction videos are big now on youtube, and I always thought the trend was strange... reacting to your own video? Why? ... but it can be used to give tidbits and insights so it might be cool to do a similar thing with the author reviews here on goodreads. What do you think?
Do you think it would be a nice addition to a book's page or not? Has anyone ever tried it? Or have you tried something similar?
