I am so excited that this book was chosen, because I actually picked it up for 99p in the Kindle sale a few days before the episode was released! Very serendipitous.

So who else is going to be reading?

I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it so far. It took me a little while to get used to the setting because there's not a lot of background info - which is better than the alternative of info-dumps everywhere - but I imagine it as kind of a mix between Firefly and Mass Effect, which is a great combination in my view. I always thought Firefly didn't have enough aliens.

Has anyone else started it? What are your thoughts so far?

Struggling to find the time but have finally started and getting into it now.

I could see the Mass Effect/Firefly vibe straight away and I like her prose style which is something that is really important when doing eye reading as opposed to audiobooks.

I may have to take more baths so I can finish it in the next couple of weeks.

Interesting how much audiobooks and not commuting has killed my reading habit.

I've just started A Closed and Common Orbit and so far it is just as good as the first book. I'm hoping this series goes on and on.

Have read this and the second one and absolutely love them both. Good choice! I really enjoy the way she writes and all the inclusions of different 'cultural' traditions that challenge the way you think about our societal norms. Hopefully it is easier for people to digest being attributed to currently non-existent alien races.
