Coming releases you're excited for

Mine will probably have to be the conclusion of the Lightbringer series, or the conclusion of Mistborn era 2

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments Yeah literally anything Sanderson is coming out with I'm excited about haha. Mistborn Era 2, and Oathbringer, I'm really looking forward to.

Iron Gold by Pierce Brown I'm also really looking forward to! I enjoyed the Red Rising books very much.

I'm still debating on starting Stormlight soon or later considering there's 10 books planned, and everyone seems to be clawing their eyes out waiting for Oathbringer

Audio......Kramer and Reading.........

Yes I can't wait but conversely I'm never regretted starting the series. Behind Malazan it's my favorite series, although Manifest Delusions close as is Long Price Quartet.

message 261: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments Scott, you know I just found out that Kramer and Reading are married? They have a studio in their basement where they do all their recordings. I thought that was so cool haha.

The two of them are my favorite narrators. They make the perfect combo for fantasy with multiple POVs.

I did not know that. That is pretty awesome. They are the best of the best. I think Kramer could read the McDonald's drive through menu and I'd to slathering to eat that slop.

You still wake up sometimes, don't you? You wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of the lambs.

Stop it. They are not married. My brain may explode.

message 266: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments There's an interview with him where he talks about the narrating process for Words of Radiance, and what it's like working with Kate as his wife and collaborator haha. Kate Reading isn't even her real name. Her actual name is Jennifer Mendenhall. Really interesting hearing him just talk normally haha!

Here's a link for those interested =].

The Winds of Winter I've given up checking on GRRM blogger for updates long ago. As this book feels like it will never see the light of day, I'm going with the final book in Lightbringer. Even though I didn't think Blood Mirror was that great, I'm curious to see how the series will wrap up.

I am excited for all the things mentioned. I'll add the as of yet untitled third Draconis Memoria book as my most anticipated book of 2018. As for later this year, Apex by Mercedes Lackey. :)

I wonder if Michael Kramer and Kate Reading get invited over to people's houses just because of their voices. I'd make them tell me a story

I'm excited for this one too. I kind of saw the ending of the fourth one coming, but I have no idea how it will all play out now. Looking forward to the release.

Another one that is coming out soon that I'm excited for is Age of Swords. I pre-ordered it so I'm just waiting for the day to arrive and to find a surprise in my mail. :)

message 276: by Mayim (new)

Mayim de Vries | 2948 comments [This is such an awesome thread how come have I missed it!?]

I am waiting for the Winds of Winter, but only sub-consciously as I kind of lost hope (and I think it is prudent to add the Thorn of Emberlain to this pile].

More actively I look forward to The Stone Sky; the Fifth Season absolutely shattered me and The Obelisk Gate kept the quality. IT is one of the best, darkest and yet most beautiful series I have read.

And I also cannot wait for the second instalment in the Cinder Spires: The Olympian Affair. Aeronaut Windlass was my first Butcher and I completely fell in love with his writing.

Coolest Title

One thing about epic fantasy that I love is the great titles.

Certain authors like Guy Gavriel Kay and Robert Jordan are top of the title game. Which is why one of my favorite titles is The Shadow Rising. You just get chills when you hear that one spoken, and maybe James Earl Jones is the one speaking it in your head.

Have a fabulous day everyone.

message 281: by Bill (new)

Bill | 2150 comments My favorite recent title is Where the Waters Turn Black by Benedict Patrick. Like the mystery of it.

I noticed looking through my read how many titles are simply "something of something" just looking through my recent reads I see Crucible of Gold, A Memory of Light and City of Miracles. Never noticed how many authors use this format.

message 283: by Kieron (new)

Kieron This one springs to mind The Lies of Locke Lamora

I really like both of these titles. Unfortunately not a fan of the actual books though. V E Schwab is just not for me, I've determined.

message 285: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments I really like Promise of Blood. I'm not sure why, I just always thought the title was interesting.

message 286: by C.P. (new)

C.P. Cabaniss (cpcabaniss) | 1578 comments Oh, and actually the two that I've liked most recently are The Shadow of What Was Lost and An Echo Of Things To Come. I'm really hoping that I like the books and not just the titles. :)

message 289: by Liam (new)

Liam (leeman729) | 828 comments I also love all of the Mistborn Era 2 titles. Shadows of Self and The Bands of Mourning are especially excellent.

Dust of Dreams
The Crippled God
Words of Radiance
The Spider's War
The Thousand Names

Just a handful of my favorites because they are all so unique.

message 293: by Ahdam (new)

Ahdam (snowlocke) | 2429 comments Hmm some of the title I like but never read would be the shadow of what was lost and gardens of the moon they have a sense of eerieness to it

But to what I've read it would half to be Malice short simple and fills you with a sense of dread

Honestly I can't stand her writing. A Darker Shade of Magic was alright, but everything else I've read by her has been awful, including the last two books in the Shades of Magic trilogy.

This is such a spot on, even though The Lord of the Rings!

I've looked at Vicious and I don't think it would be my thing. For some reason I can see how her books could be depressing to some people. I'm not sure why because they are not really depressing books, but they do seem to have a certain mood or atmosphere about them. Even her YA stuff has that same feeling.
