I regret not taking a chance on it every day.
The worst thing that can happen is she says no.
Yeah, it'll monumentally SUCK, and yeah, it'll be depressing, but the long-run, however it turns out, you'll have the experience.
I know that sounds dumb, but think about it.
Life experience is one of the only things that lasts forever, so you'll always have that particular experience to look back on, fondly or not, and be able to make other, more difficult decisions based on it.
