SOLVED. Hybrid spliced DNA, held in secret lab [s]

I am racking my brain and my book files trying to find a book. It is a book that is PNR and is about DNA spliced hybrids, like human with lion or tiger etc. I have searched the Breeds by Lora Leigh and New Species by Dohner but I don't know if this book is one of those.

Ok here is the setup:::::

A woman who thinks she is going to a lab to free dna hybrids is accompanied by her husband who pretends to be a good guy but he is really there to film the slaughter of a group of hybrids in a pit that has blades slicing up the test subjects. If I remember right, the other animal/humans kept pushing one species to the top of the pit so he would survive.He survives and destroys the lab telling her "he owns her". We think her husband is dead. The lion/ animal guy and the girl meet later and fall in love but the ex is not dead and somehow has bionic legs and can walk. He's still a bad guy though and come back later in the book..

Does any of this sound familiar to yall ??
