SOLVED. YA novel with girl finding a doll buried in a garden. [s]

This book is like a kids/YA novel about a teen/tween girl moving with her mom to live up above an older lady who is very crabby. Shes got rules about her garden but girl kinda disregards them. She finds a doll buried under a bush in the corner of said yard which is just big enough for her to hang out in. The girl takes the doll and follows (something? Her gut?) to go through a spot in the fence which should lead to a empty lot but doesn't. She ends up in a garden with a young sick girl who has dolls similair to the one she found. Girl says something about needing the doll but Main character leaves.

I think the girl and the old lady were once childhood friends but the girl dies and the lady buries the doll which traps the girls ghost.

I can't remember anything other then that and never finished the book because it was something the school librarian read to the class.
