E.F. Buckles I read "Enjoy the Poodle Skirt" in an hour. :) Next up is my indie read: "The Key to the Chains" by Allison Tebo.

Awesome! I've heard that it's really good but just haven't read it yet. Same with The Key to the Chains. I do love The Reluctant Godfather by Allison, and I've read that book a couple of times.

Emily (sweetmrsemi) | 37 comments I'm working on the last two categories! I almost felt like it was cheating, but I wound of choosing two Dear America books for the 16 and 1700s. I was having a hard time finding material on my way out of town for those, as I couldn't make myself finish the two books that I had chosen before, and these were easier to find. HOWEVER, I chose a sequel to one that I had LOVED when I was younger, and Cannons at Dawn is actually quite the detailed read. I was surprised. And I chose I Walk In Dread to replace the other House of Winslow, as the Salem Witch Trials was the piece that I most looked forward to out of those books.

E.F. Buckles Finished my indie! *enters second giveaway*

That is probably the end of the challenge for me. Not because I haven't had fun. I have! It's just that I already have a physical copy of London in the Dark (which I love <3) and won't be entering that giveaway. Also, while I do have a book set in 1901-2000, I don't have a non-fiction, or any of the rest of the categories I haven't already done, and I'm still trying desperately to make a dent in the stack of books sitting on my real-life bookcase before I let it (the stack, not the bookcase :p) get any taller. I'll still follow the group and cheer the rest of you on, though. :)

Thanks for the fun! If y'all do this again next year I'll try to be a little more prepared. ;)

Elaina | 9 comments I finished Love's Long Journey yesterday, and now I'm onto the 1700-1800s category :) I am reading I Was Jane Austen's Best Friend. I have my next book after that picked out too. It's called Ophelia, and it's a Shakespeare retelling I'm pretty sure...I just have to decide what book I want to read for the 1500-1600s category now :P Anybody have any recommendations for that time period? I was planning on reading an actual Shakespeare play, but I'm a little intimidated since I have never read anything by him before xD

message 277: by Hanna (new)

Hanna Does anybody have suggestions for the last two categories? I'm not there yet (I have yet to finish my 1900's book, and find an 1800's one) but I have no clue what very old book I can read.

Prince and the Pauper by Twain is fun! I never finished it, but the dialogue is super fun. XD Also, Duncan's War by Douglas Bond is set in the 1600s, I believe, and is really good!

message 282: by Hanna (new)

Hanna Ooh, okay! That was the only one that I recognized- and I didn't actually recognize the book, just the author. I'll check out Duncan's War, too. :)

Mary Herceg (aerelien) | 12 comments I haven't updated here in a while, but I finished my contemporary and my classic. I'm still very slowly working on my nonfiction and fantasy. I have barely any reading time of late... :P I'm still not sure what books I'll end up reading for the other categories, but I hope to get to at least one more before the deadline.

My list so far:

Classic - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (re-read/read-aloud) - finished

Fantasy - Ranger's Apprentice: The Battle of Hackham Heath - currently-reading

Contemporary - Bound: by Victoria Lynn (re-read/beta-read) - finished

Indie - A Question of Honor by Jesseca Wheaton - finished

Non-fiction - Redemption at Hacksaw Ridge - currently-reading

It's great so far - an amazing true story! Very exciting, engaging, and informative. I've been halfway through for a long time, but I have so little reading time that I had to stop right when the biggest battle section was starting. I need to find time to sit down with it and focus on it, but I haven't yet.

As Sarah Grace mentioned, The Prince and the Pauper is a great read. While I've not read them, I've heard good things about the Ann Rinaldi books on that list. Also, I saw two Alexandre Dumas books too. I've not read either of those, but I've read several of his others, such as The Man in the Iron Mask, The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Three Musketeers and they're great.

message 288: by Hanna (new)

Hanna Thanks! My brother read The Count of Monte Cristo this Summer, and I'm not sure I'm ready for such a large book. ;) I think I saw The Three Musketeers on the 1600's list, and it's at my library, so I may pick that one. If not, I'll probably just reread The Witch of Blackbird Pond.
