Sarah | 4 comments Read The Wizard of Oz last night. It's only been sitting on my shelf for 10 years or so... So on to the next category. I have a few Brandon Sanderson's books. Haven't decided which one to start.

- A classic - The Wizard of OZ (6/22/17)
- A fantasy\sci-fi - Elantris (6/25/17)
- A contemporary - Allie and Bea (6/26/17)
- An indie published - Before He Kills (6/26/17)- do not recommend, no matter how free it is on Kindle
- A non-fiction - Surviving Schizophrenia - a memoir (6/27/17)
- 2000 and 1901 - Mein Side of the Story (6/28/17) - don't judge me, it was free.
- 1801 and 1900 - The Ambitious Madame Bonaparte (6/30/17)
- 1701 and 1800 - Northanger Abbey
- 1601 and 1700 - no idea
- 1501 and 1600 - no idea

Well, Just got back from vacation, so my reading is going to slow down again. May take a break from this challenge, trying to read so many historical books in a row may put me in a slump. It has encouraged me to read books I probably would have kept on the back burner.

For an indie, you can look through my indie shelf and see which ones I liked. :) I was going to give you a few faves, but realized that wasn't going to work. XD It would have been a longgggg comment!

Erudessa Aranduriel | 91 comments My Conteporary is done! 39 Clues: The Black Book of Buried Secrets. I picked it up this afternoon to proof-read it for the kids thinking it was futuristic. Then I got into it and found it was contemporary so used it for my challenge book. But it's a guide book too the 39 Clues series and gives some spoilers. :( I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series! Oh, and it's a new read.

Yup, what Kendra said. :) Books that are published independently as opposed to through a publishing house. :)

Kendra Ardnek | 36 comments I have it on Kindle. For the record, that one's not Indie. Jack actually had a publisher on it.

Oh, and Lorrie, you can find Indie Books on audiobook. I would personally recommend Red Rain, as she offers the whole book for free, and she has a very talented reader who really brings the story to life. http://jointheunaccepted.com/books/re...

Her other books were Indie, but not that one. Jack's one of the authors that I follow closely, so ... yeah. No, she had a publisher. And a professional editor. And then realized that her previous books were FULL of typos and such, and has taken them down for editing. I do not know when she's going to put them back up.

Oh, fun fact, the book I am currently writing (Or ... one of the books, but it's the one that has 70% of my attention right now) The Worth of a King, was originally a co-write with her.

Historical, mystery, fiction for "kids"! I didn't like history or anything like it when I was in school. The older I get, more I wish I had paid attention! Historical fiction has been good for me. I like some non-fiction, but not much.

Yay! Did you like it??

I would think so. I don't know if I would say its main genre is sci-fi, but I think it could be considered that, and for the purposes of this challenge, I think it works. :)

Yes, I did. It's obviously a secular book, but I thought it did a good job of portraying wrong and right. And I think it's an important classic to read since reference is made to it quite a bit, and it's a book that's shaped how a lot of people think.

And, thanks, Sarah Grace! I was hoping you'd say that ;)

J.D. Sutter (jdsutter) | 120 comments Finally got my whole list decided on. Now that most of you are already finished with your first (or second or third) book/s. But better late than never, right?

- A contemporary: Deadfall by Robert Liparulo
- An indie published book: Dead Broke by Bruce A. Borders
- A non-fiction: Lessons My Father Taught Me by Michael Reagan
- A book set between the years 2000 and 1901: The Singing Tree by Kate Seredy
- A book set between the years 1801 and 1900: Destry Rides Again by Max Brand

Okay, here's an incomplete list for me:

- A classic: Treasure Island
- A fantasy\sci-fi: (maybe) Crossroads by Paul Willis
- A contemporary: not sure
- An indie published book: The Star Under the City by Maggie Joy
- A non-fiction: probably an autobiography, I just haven't chosen which one yet.
- A book set between the years 2000 and 1901: Chasing Jupiter by Rachel Coker
- A book set between the years 1801 and 1900: Promise of Dawn by Lauraine Snelling
- A book set between the years 1701 and 1800: A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens (maybe)
- A book set between the years 1601 and 1700: Duncan's War (maybe)
- A book set between 1501-1600: Much Ado about Nothing

Any of these are subject to change, but that's a rough list. :)
