I read a book a couple of years ago about a boy (or man -- cannot remember if it was YA or Adult) who was in his backyard shooting his gun in the air (for fun? Shot gun? Or maybe shooting at ducks or practice shooting?) and a bullet ends up coming back down in the neighbors yard killing a man who turns out to be the heroines dad. They end up falling in love, only she has no idea that he's the reason her father is dead. I don't even think he realized his bullet actually killed her dad till more than halfway through the book. I can't really remember.

Does it ring any bells?
