Hey guys, Just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that my first novel is coming to Amazon on August 29th. It's a middle-grade fiction piece called Don't Mess with Coleman Stoops. It's great for third-sixth grade readers. If you're a parent or a teacher or even a school librarian, I'd invite you to check it out, or even ask me any questions about it that you may have. I'm very open and willing to discuss anything with you.
I've been writing most of my life. I began writing short stories when I was 12 or 13, but it didn't really take off until college when I minored in screenwriting. I worked in Los Angeles for a bit as a script reader while working on my own screenplays. Since 2010, I made the transition to full-length novels and have completed a half dozen in that time, in addition to being published in Page & Spine, Global Living Magazine, and the Courier Post. I have also been a regular contributor to songplaces.com, where I'm able to combine writing with my love of music.
Don't Mess with Coleman Stoops is my first novel to be published, but I hope to follow suit with some of my other completed and eventually in-progress works. My wheelhouse is fantasy, particularly young-adult fantasy; however, that isn't the only thing I write and Don't Mess with Coleman Stoops is neither.
Coleman is a a regular kid at a regular school. He struggles with all of the same issues that most kids struggle with. There is no fantasy or supernatural element to his tale. It's just a good old-fashioned underdog story. I'm positive that your younger readers will identify and love Coleman and his adventures.
Again, please feel free to ask me anything as I'm readily available. Take care and thank you so much for taking the time to read my introduction! -Justin
