ABANDONED. About a girl with selective mutism

I cannot think when it was published but the book is about a girl who, as a very young child, kills her baby brother. She tried to feed him a banana and he suffocated but it's something she remembers little of herself. She is in school one day and there is an incident with a other girl that revolves around a bracelet. From that moment on, the main character refuses to / is unable to talk. She also has an other brother though I cannot remember any names.

I think it was at some point before 2010 but every single detail I remember has already been posted.

Probably not the right book although it includes a number of the elements: The Other Side of Silence. In that the girl who is selectively mute gets a job gardening for a reclusive old lady, and it turns out that the lady (view spoiler)[when she was young accidentally smothered a baby, possible her own illegitimate child. (hide spoiler)] The girl does have at least one brother and her mom is a child psychologist.
