time traveling teens with ring

I'm trying so hard to remember the name of this YA series I read as a kid (probably somewhere in the mid-90s). Definitely very youth-oriented, though I do remember somewhat of a romance between the main character and one of her friends. I'm not 100% sure it was about time travel (so helpful, I know), it MAY have been just teleportation. Definitely some scifi aspect though. I remember the cover art being very colorful and it was for sure a series. The main character finds a ring (a ruby ring maybe?) that has special powers. I feel like it possibly took place near a beach. An American or possibly Canadian series. Most likely a female author. I think the main character is blonde.
