I was wondering how many of you guys would recognize the word "kotengu" in a contemporary fantasy (Japanese supernatural) story?

I know "tengu," but not "kotengu" (and thus I don't know if it's related, but given your question's context I assume so).
Sounds like a tengu to me too. *goes to google*
Hey, we were right! It's a lesser tengu (makes sense, since the "ko" in kotengu is the kanji for small)

I think more people would know about tengu than kotengu. I didn't specifically know but could guess from the word since ko is often used in the context of child/lesser in Japanese (for instance inu means dog and koinu means puppy).

I just finished a 500-word flash fiction draft involving kotengu and wondered who would be my target audience.
thx!
