SOLVED. Fantasy novel about a girl who performs in a mermaid show at an aquarium who meets and falls for a real mer-man.

I don't remember much about this novel or when I read it, although I know it has been a few years.
The main female character is around 18 years old and works as a mermaid at an aquarium's Mermaid show. One day when she is finishing a performance, she realizes she forget to connect her breathing device. She spent that entire time underwater without having to breathe air. She also is able to maneuver and swim through the water astonishingly fast.
The male lead is a mer-man, who underwater home is near the coast where the aquarium. They meet. She discovers his secret. He shows her live underwater. She uses her fake mermaid tail from the show to disguise herself, although it is considered ugly to real mer-people. There is some kind of conflict in the underwater kingdom, but I can't remember any of the details.
I believe this is a YA fantasy novel. If this rings any bells, please let me know. Thanks!
