Fate ran over to a chair next to the pool. After what had happened at Starbucks, she just wanted to be alone. She took a seat, and listen to the water go through the filter, and make small waves. She let a few loose tears slide down her face. No one understood! How could they say they understood. She wipes the tears, makes sure her sunglasses are on, and slides her hand into her bag. Her paper was gone. She sighed, realizing she's have to go back to Starbucks later to day to get it. Instead, she puts her bag aside and just lays down, listening. To most people, it would look like she was just laying in the sun, enjoying the sun, laying in a cute dress (view spoiler)[ But, Fate, not that model. (hide spoiler)] But she couldn't see. She couldn't tell what the scene looked like. She just laid there, thinking about what to do next.

Ivy came outside to the pool to get away from all the noisy people in the house with her sketchbook in hand and her case of colored pencils. She wore a cute floral dress and black sandals as she sat down almost noiselessly and opened her sketch book, starting to draw the palm trees in the yard. It took her forever to notice the other girl laying just a few chairs down from her."Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there," she said. Smiling brightly, "I hope I'm not bothering you."

Fate was startled when the girl spoke, she had come out of nowhere. Or maybe Fate was just too busy day dreaming. Either way, she quickly sat up, "You're not bothering me. I'm just... Rough day so far." She thought of Jason, and the incident at Starbucks. Fate decided right then to not tell the other girl she was blind. "I thought Hawaii was supposed to be peaceful." She smiled at the other girl. "I'm Fate." She gave a polite nod, "Did you get a free trip her too? Or is it just me?"

"I'm Ivy," she said, looking away from the girl and back to her drawing, beginning to tune her out. It was just a habit of her's, she didn't do it to be rude and most of the time she didn't even realize that she was doing it.

Fate felt a little shocked that Ivy didn't answer all her questions. She was slightly annoyed, but more relieved than anything. She wasn't good with talking to people. She laid back down, glad to have already but sunscreen on. Any more sun, and she would burn. "What are you doing?" She asks, listening to some sketching noise.

"Drawing the trees, and before you ask, no you cannot see my drawing," she said turning it away from her slightly. She didn't show anyone her work because she'd been criticized too many times because no one really seemed to understand her work. Trees were easier to understand, but most of the things that she drew had hidden meanings and stories that she didn't want anyone am else to know .

Fate smiled, almost amused at the statement. "Oh, I wasn't going to ask. I know I can't see your drawing. I never see anyone's drawings. She coul see that Ivy was, well, reserved. She knew to let her be. "I was nice meeting you." Fate pushes up her sunglasses, with a slight smirk, and goes back to listening to the pool.

"Mmmhhmm," Ivy said, not looking up from her work. She didn't know what she meant by never seeing anyone's drawings, but she didn't ask. She wanted friends, but she had a weird way of showing it.

Fate smiles softly. Surprisingly, Ivy had calmed her, giving her something else to think about. "Did you get a free trip here?" She asks suddenly. Fate wasn't sure why she'd gotten the invite to Hawaii, but she figured she wasn't the only one. "Why do you think we got the invite? Who's paying for it?"

"I have no idea," Ivy said as she drew, "But yeah, I got in for free." She knew that there was no way in the world that she'd be able to pay for a trip to Hawaii on her own, she could barely afford her apartment and food.

Fate shrugged, and went back to listening quietly. Fate really appreciated the trip, just some time. As she reached into her bag, to get some gum, she rethought her glasses scheme. Would I rather be known as weird or blind. Definitely weird. She chewed on the gum, falling silent for the time being. This is what she usually was like. Silent. Fate had gotten good at blending in. ((Sorry for the misspellings and such. I'm on mobile and have clumsy fingers! I'll edit it when I get back on a computer.))

Ivy sighed and set down her drawing, figuring that she could finish it later. "But, I mean, I guess it is kinda weird how everybody just sorta showed up here y'know?" she said, "Makes you wonder why we're all here in the first place. Why'd we all get free trips?"

Fate nods slightly. "A first my parents thought it was a scam, but I eventually convinced them to let me come. It's just weird that there's so many other teens who got the same offer." She reaches over, stretching as she touches her toes. "It's odd. And it makes me wonder, who is paying for all of it!"

Eleanor had already checked out the living room and the kitchen, and she was now making her way to the backyard, which she had overheard contained a pool. She wondered why they needed a pool when they were within walking distance of the ocean, but she wasn't going to complain. As she stepped out into the sunlight she noticed that there were already two girls sitting out there carrying a conversation. Figuring it would look weird now if she turned around and went back inside, Eleanor continued her walk towards the edge of the pool. The sun felt good on her skin and it seemed like the smell of the ocean was now permanently apart of the air around her. After this summer the smell of sea water was probably going to be embedded into her skin. Not that she really minded, she liked the smell.

"Um, hi..." Ivy said, feeling the need to acknowledge the presence of the girl who had just came outside. She wasn't sure if she was happy about another person since she'd came out here to get away from all of the people in the house, but she tried to brush the feeling off. This wasn't like home and she needed to make friends.

Fate gave a small wave, "Hello!" Fate was more of those people who say Hi, and are done. But if she could carry a conversation with one girl, without making it weird with her blindness, she could do another... Right? Chewing on her gum, she gave a small, close lipped smile. The cool breeze was a reminder to introduce herself. "I'm Fate, it's nice to meet you." Fate seemed all full of sugar. Maybe besides, the huge sunglasses, and gorgeous clothes though.

Eleanor turned her head to see who all had greeted her. She gave a half smile to the girl with a sketch pad, or whatever it was called, and a wave of her hand. "Hey," was all she said in response. She couldn't tell what kind of girls she was standing with were, hopefully not those preppy know-it-alls, so she figured a simple hey would suffice until she was more aware of their personality. She looked to the other girl outside with them and gave her the same smile and greeting as the one before. "Eleanor," she replied. She awkwardly crouched down near the side of the pool and slipped off her shoes, dipping her feet delicately into the cool water.

"Ivy," she said, introducing herself to Eleanor since Fate obviously already knew. She couldn't tell if this girl wanted to talk or not, and she was perfectly happy if she didn't because her antisocial introvertism was starting to kick in again and she began to get frustrated by the presence of other people. She forced herself to stay and not go inside because that would look rude. People didn't understand her and she could exactly explain that sometimes people irritated her without even doing anything.

"Hello Ivy, hello Fate." Eleanor nodded to each of the girls. She could feel the awkwardness in he air and didn't know exactly what to say to either of them, so she just continued to splash her feet around in the pool. She knew if her father were here with her he would be nagging her to start up a conversation and make some friends, but Eleanor was never all that good at making friends. Her sarcastic attitude wasn't what you would call a magnet for friendships. She didn't mind all that much, the few friends she did have were enough. Except now that she would be spending the whole summer by herself, it probably wouldn't hurt to make some acquaintances. To no one in particular she said, "This should be an exciting summer vacation, shouldn't it?"

"There's a big difference between what should be and what is," Ivy said, picking up her sketch pad again and starting to finish her palm trees. She realized that what she said had been a little weird, so she covered it up with, "I mean, yeah, I'm sure it will be fun." People didn't really understand the way that she thought or the things that she said it did, which was partly why she had no friends. She knew that people would only think that she was weird, so she mostly never was herself around others.

Eleanor looked at the girl, Ivy, and shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly. "Very true, I guess we'll just have to wait and see," she responded. She peaked down at the page the girl was sketching on, but didn't want to seem nosy so she looked up at the gorgeous blue sky above their heads. If the girl wanted to show her what she was drawing, she would. Besides, Eleanor wasn't really an artsy fartsy girl and didn't feel like being reminded of how terrible she was. She could draw stick figures and that was the extent of her artistic abilities.

Fate smiled, "You like Hawaii so far Eleanor?" She pushed her sunglasses up, and ran her fingers through her hair. "I just arrived today, how about you?" She gave a small smile. Both of these girls seemed to have the same predicament as Fate: Making friends was hard. It was odd for Fate, she was always sweet as sugar, and sun shine-y, but people somehow think she's a snob. She didn't get it. Thinking about how different Hawaii was, she absentmindedly started blabbing. It was another bad habit "I wish I could see Hawaii. Or maybe go swimming. Maybe I'll try it. It'd be so cool to live a new life here, you know?" After a mumbling a bit more, she snaps back to reality. Blushing, she giggles. "Sorry. I daydream, and then it seems all my thoughts seem to pour out." She turns and faced the beautiful scenery made by Hawaii. The only bad part? She couldn't see it.

"What do you mean that you wish you could see it?" Ivy asked, finally looking up from her sketch to look at Fate, "Do you mean you wish you could see more of it? We could always go some place else in town." She didn't really want to leave the house, but she knew that she couldn't stay cooped up inside forever like she always did. It was always how she had lived at home, because if she went outside there was the chance of running into a gang or a group of druggies and she wanted nothing to do with them, but she figured that here it would be better.

Fate froze, nodding slowly. "Ah... yeah that's exactly what I meant." She mentally slapped herself. She couldn't let things like that slip out. Fate played with her glasses, sliding them down and up her nose. "Where do you want to go?" She forced a small smile, still upset at how she was just bad at keeping secrets. She was an open person. She couldn't help it! On the other hand, she did want to get out, and go around. She wanted to meet people, have the experience. It was just a natural tourist reaction. Along with her reaction to be sweet, but very dumb at points. And she wasn't even a blonde. (view spoiler)[ I don't mean anything rude, or mean! Just referring to the stereotype! (hide spoiler)]

Eleanor smirked at Fate's eagerness to explore. It was kind of refreshing how happy she seemed to be all the time. Still, Elle didn't know how she did it. She had a hard time being overly happy for more than half an hour, to be happy 24/7 must take a lot of commitment. She took her feet out of the water and tried dry them off by brushing the water off with her hand before she put her shoes back on. She stood up and placed her sunglasses on top of her brightly colored head. "Ooh I know, maybe we could go searching for mermaids... Oh, or better yet, go to Neverland and steal some pirates treasure," Eleanor said with overly dramatic enthusiasm. She was always being a smart ass like that. She wasn't trying to be rude, it was just that Eleanor couldn't seem to ever take anything in life seriously.

"Neverland is way overrated, I say we go to Narnia," Ivy said, standing up and packing up her art supplies, matching Eleanor's sarcasm. She wasn't naturally a sarcastic person, but she had learned to be over time so that other people didn't have an upper hand on her. She is very protective of resell and also very reserved, so she doesn't exactly ever act like her true self. "What do you think Fate? Never land or Narnia?" she asked, shantung to see if she'd play along or kill the joke.

"Obviously Never-Land." Fate says sighing as she picked up her bag. "Peter Pan is hot. Or so they say..." Like she'd know. She'd never seen him. Fate drags her feet off the chair and slowly stands up. "Okay. Hawaii. Where to?" She gave a bright smile, "I'll be nice and let you choose." Like she would have chosen. She didn't really know any place, and she would always want them to choose, so her statement was a little on the... false end. Fate, being the slightly shy one she is, makes sure her sunglasses were on. It was a slightly bad habit now. Oh, well.

"Your kindness astounds me," Eleanor said with a roll of her eyes. She thought for a moment but wasn't sure exactly where the trio could go. She had never been to Hawaii before and didn't know all the places that were fit for going to. She regretted not doing some research on the island and whatnot before she came here, but there wasn't much she could do about that now. Looking to Ivy, she gave a shrug of her shoulders and asked, "I've got nothing. Any idea where we should go, oh wise one?"

"Why am I the wise one?" Ivy asked even though she knew that it was only a sarcastic joke. She thought about it for a moment, unsure of where they could go together. She remembered seeing something about a carnival on a billboard in town when she'd been first coming to the house from the airport. "I think there's a carnival going on today if that sounds like it would be fun," she told them, not sure if it sounded fun to her, but she'd e willing to go if the wanted to.

Fate fidgeted softly. She wasn't sure it was safe, and her mom would kill her if she found out. Oh, What the heck, she was in Hawaii. She smiles, "Sure! Sounds like fun! I've never been to a carnival." She grabbed her bag, slowly standing up. "Are we walking?" Maybe she should tell them. Maybe not. She bit her lip, debating if she should tell. Her uncertainly was probably felt by the other girls, but Fate was a little absorbed in fighting herself over the issue.

"I can practically smell the wise coming off of you," Eleanor commented with a lazy smile. She thought for a second about whether they should go to the carnival, and she couldn't seem to find a reason not to. She clapped her hands together in excitement, already thinking about the delicious foods that were bound to be there. She wasn't exactly sure what kind of treats they sold at carnivals in Hawaii, but she hoped she could at least find a bag of cotton candy. "Sounds good to me! And seeing as how I don't have a car and I doubt either one of you brought a car from wherever you're from, it looks like walking is our only option." Eleanor mentally patted herself on the back for wearing her black combat boots instead of the flip flops she was thinking about wearing today.

Ivy knew that she'd probably never save up enough money to but herself a car if she saved up all of her life, so she knew that they'd have to walk. "I just saw a billboard for it when I got here, I don't know how far away it is... it could be miles," she said, hoping that it wasn't. She sighed, knowing that unless Fate had a car, they'd be walking. "I guess we'll find out, and probably get hopelessly lost in the process, but I guess that's part of the adventure," she said, "Are we ready then?"

Fate nodded, "I have no car, so we'll just find out." She smiled as she stood up, holding her bag. She would tell them she had to. "Um..." She trailed of biting her lip. "But before you go, I have to tell you something." She hung her head, "I feel bad for not telling you before." Fate waited for a few seconds, before standing up straight. With a sigh, she pulls off her sunglasses. Quietly, she mutters, "I'm blind."
