I felt one of the messages is that one person's insanity is another's normal and vice versa. And the next is that We're all in the race against time being 9-5 robots and this is actually affecting our mental health adversely as we forget our true identities in the long run. That was what happened to Edward as when he couldn't follow his passion he became a schizophrenic. Moreover, you have to open ur heart to understand the best inside people.

Don't take life for granted - there is always something to live for.

I read this when I had just turned 19 years old. I hadn't spent half of my life reading it, yet it gave me some sense of awareness and awakeness to life.
Veronika's action of taking the pill is a sign of giving up, but what if life gives us another chance? What will we do? Do we just waste it as useless, or do we give meaning to it, cherish it even more delightedly than we lived before?
We should, human as we are that thrives to survive, be wary of our actions and motivations, for it is the reason on how we live our lives, on how we act on people and society, on how we treat religion, on reality and on everything.

For me, the hidden message was to let go of passivity and taking hold of your life in your own hands instead of just letting yourself putting up with whatever comes.

I’m really enjoying the theme/design of your website.

I think there are many messages in this book. A big one I think is to seek life, really live it and be comfortable with who you are, embrace the crazy, be okay with emotion, and discover the beauty in life.

hi thank you

It is so difficult for me to gather my thoughts on how this book made me feel. I'm going to try, but it might not make sense! I got that many of us tend to limit ourselves out of fear. Fear of feeling ''negative'' emotions, fear of judgement, fear of failure. And so we put ourselves in tiny little boxes in order to limit these possible threatening situations that can lead to the unwanted outcomes above. However in doing so, we strip life of its nature. Life is MESSY. Instead of shying away from that, we should embrace it. We should embrace our insanity. Be honest, real, authentic with ourselves and those around us. Live life as we intend to and appreciate it's imperfect nature as well as our own......this was my attempt at putting my thoughts into words. Not fully satisfied, but it'll do lol!

What I remember, I learned from it... (quite a while ago though)
for me it’s about perspectives...
you might be sad and don’t find life worth living now, but if you keep moving and connect with others, your perspective might change quicker as you might think...
but most of all it raises awareness to the perspectives of our social norms and what we judge as normal or disorder and that we shouldn’t be so quick but trying to understand... for me, I read it in my youth and it was freeing because it gave me permission to be myself, no matter if people consider that normal...
Was your goal of life ever to be normal? no? then why the heck are so many of us constantly worried if we or our children are?

An awareness or the acceptance of death drastically increases a person's appreciation for life and encourages us to live our lives freely without restricting ourselves just to conform to society's standards. If I knew I was going to die tomorrow, I would do all the things I would normally be scared to do and finally go after my life goals without fear.

As far as I understand the Cure for Vitrol poisoning is an awareness of death.

I believe its about 'living' and 'loving'. I dont know exactly how to explain but i guess the writer wants to convey the message that we as human struggle to be ourselves in fear of being jugded and being called as 'mad'. Veronica wanted to die because her life was like a fish in small aquarium and she didnt know that there was so much more to life and that she should push the wall of her aquarium and see what the vast ocean had to offer. She thought it was probably best to die then to live a regular life when she should have tried harder and live without settling.
At the end she wanted to live because she sees what lies beyond her so-called aquarium like world.
