Deleting an edition - how long does it take?

Hi, I've deleted and merged an edition. A message appeared about ten minutes ago saying it would be deleted shortly. Once it is deleted I will need to combine the book back into the main work. (I had to separate so the duplicate edition would be merged with the correct country's edition and not the most popular one which is in another language.)

I haven't seen this happen before. Do you know how long it takes for the deletion to occur? It's not very convenient to have to hang about like this. And there's a small chance someone else might merge the editions early and unwittingly change the user to a foreign edition.

It can take from a few seconds to 1-2 minutes; personally I never had to wait longer, unless something was not working, but that was for the staff to fix

Thanks. It's now gone from the full-page list of other editions and didn't show in the combine page, so I've just combined it back. It was only listed under "other editions" on the book page, presumably due to caching times. I'll check in future if it's just that.
