Thanks for the information!

I purchased my copy last week, so I presumed the cover was a new version. How can you identify similar covers on GR, beyond skimming through the thousand other editions?
Also, if the copies you found are the ACEs of this one, then their correct page number should be 355 pages (the text of the novel) plus 30 pages (the Thomas Pynchon introduction). So 385 pages instead of 400. My copy contains a further 15 pages of advertisments for other Penguin books, which shouldn't be counted.

I have zero idea on how to find similar covers without going through all the other editions, I've been doing it the hard way by setting the per page book to max and whizzing my way through it all.
According to WorldCat there seem to be 325 pages. But since you own the copy, and I'm assuming you've gone through this, I'm changing the page count to 385.
Thanks for the details!

That is impressive! My eyes couldn't stand reviewing more than 100 entries. Note that you can set the displayed number to more than 100, by modifying it in the address bar, as such:

It's been a while since I read the page numbering topic, but going through it again I saw this:
Introductory material paged using roman numerals is not included in the total page count.
The introduction by Thomas Pynchon is counted with roman numerals, so it seems that the correct page number ought to be 355 after all, for ISBN 9780141187761 and its ACEs. I apologize for misleading.

Setting the format reduces a bit, and I would try setting per publication date and than pagewise going near the year I need. (And if that fails going through the others with matching format)

Monika when swapping the cover with better quality please leave a comment that you are doing so, otherwise to rest of the librarians (not reading this topic) looks like you've done an unsolicited cover change.
Separated ACEs for merging.
(Maybe they won't but we'll see. I personally think they are duplicates.)
Added cross-reference in description.

Thanks! Will keep that in mind.

Change comment is useful if you change page numbers too (especially if they are not from Worldcat and/or Amazon but from book in hand source=
