We finally discover where Faina comes from when we learn about the death of her father. However Faina continues to have an ethereal, fairy-tale-like quality despite the fact that she is seems to have very human origins.

It is interesting to note how the author achieves this? Can you recall any little magical moments that made you question who Faina really was?

Even after learning about her father, did you still have any notions that Faina was less than human?

Anna (iudita) | 450 comments One scene I recall was when the window in the cabin all of the sudden frosted over and when Mabel rubbed away a spot, she saw Faina's face staring back at her. I also liked the way she seemed to always appear and vanish without a trace. I loved that other-wordly quality that Faina had. Even after we learn about her human father, Faina continued to keep me guessing about who she really was.
