I've read quite a number of book but didn't really like them. I only have one which I really enjoyed. It's Mission 3-R by J. Michael. It's about how a treasonous General Ben Jackson steals a top secret trillion dollar time machine and leads a group of rogue African-American soldiers back in time 400 years, to prepare his African ancestors for when the first colonists set foot on the dark continent, and prevent the slave trade from taking place. The real kick to this story is all the deceit and conspiracies he uncovers on his journey. A friend recommended this book and I couldn't put it down once I started. You should definitely check it out on Amazonhttps://bit.ly/Mission3-R
julie you have spammed this in every thread. I have not clicked on your link i hope no one else does because you book is not listed in good reads. I hope you are not planting a virus
Three? Okay here goes:The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson
The Testaments by Margaret Atwood
Beneath a Ruthless Sun: A True Story of Violence, Race, and Justice Lost and Found by Gilbert King
That was hard!
I don't usually read much sci fi, so this list surprised me.In 2020:
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
My three favourite books from 2020 are probably Follas Novas by Rosalía de Castro, an Spanish poet who wrote in Gallego; The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, kind of a cliché I guess but it really helped me at the time I read it; and The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury, I loved the way he critizices colonialism and our destruction of the environment.
I have read a lot of books that I love, but the top 3 that stand out are Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier. I read this book for the first time in January of this year and I still remember it and plan on reading it again, maybe next January. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. This also was a first-time read but not my last time. I read this in April. And also Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. Another book that was a first-time read for me, but again, not a last. I read this in July and part of August.
So far the top three that come to mind are;1. The Great Alone
2. The Ten Thousand Doors of January
3. Project Hail Mary
The StandTo Kill a Mockingbird
Pride and Prejudice
I don't usually read classics, but these two I enjoyed more than I thought I would.
1. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars - Christopher Paolini 2. The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay - Michael Chabon
3. Homesick for Another World- Otessa Moshfegh
1. The Count of Monte Cristo2. Neverwhere
3. Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
Skeletons on the Zahara: A True Story of Survival********
Noah's Garden: Restoring the Ecology of Our Own Backyards
********
Year of Wonders
The Glory and the Dream: A Narrative History of America 1932-72
ShantaramWow. Three is turning out to be a tie. I almost never give five stars to a book: my 5-star definition is that it has to be somehow life- or mind-changing. I've gone years without giving five stars. But this year I gave five stars to a handful.
I'm going to go with
although it has competition!
My top three reads of the past year are The Midnight Library, the Scholomance series and Anne of Green Gables. The Midnight Library was breathtaking, the Scholomance serience super thrilling, and Anne of Green Gables just adorable :)
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (best book I’ve ever read in my entire life)Divergent book 1 by Veronica Roth (the rest of the series is nowhere as good though)
Throne of Glass book 1 by Sarah Maas (it’s up there with Project Hail Mary)
