This book is a part of the Hainish Cycle.

In GR series it appears as book #1 (though there is book 0...), as it's the first, chronologically speaking.

In specific editions of it in GR it appears as #5, based, maybe, on the writing order.
The authoress does not give it much importance, so there is no authoritative source for it.
Should we strive, at least, for GR consistency, e.g. fix all the books so they'll fit the GR series order?

Please don't change numbering on existing editions.
Other editions might have been published with a different series number.

On Amazon, this is listed as #5 from the series of 7.
