I know it has a ISBN (it's listed as such on Amazon, and it was imported by the Amazon bot) but to me this is clearly an error, ISBNs were not in use in Italy in 1966. Is it possible that Amazon arbitrarily assigns an ISBN to old editions for its cataloguing purposes?
Nevertheless, that one is a duplicate and that edition didn't have an ISBN: once merged, it would be maybe useful to create another NAB record with that ISBN to prevent it being re-imported.

it was combined with https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7... although I'm not sure that the stories included are exactly the same for all editions

Different page amount but there is no edition of 256 pages. I'll make sure book details are corrected if necessary after merge. Right now the least popular edition has all the correct info.

Please merge https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...

Tried doing it myself but got the error message "Cannot separate the most popular edition of this book" for one of them.
Did not want to delete one for fear of killing both.
Entries are clearly duplicates for the same hardcover/ISBN, etc. Thanks!

I made a mistake when creating this book, I added it as a new edition of another book. Could you please help delete it?

Since this is the case, and I certainly don't contest it, doesn't it make sense to remove the delete option that's available to librarians? :)

Well, it was self published by me on Amazon KDP and I took it off the market. But it looks like its been removed from here now. Thank you, who ever did it.

Librarians are expected to know when they are -- or are not -- allowed to use their various abilities. Or to ask those more experienced if they are not sure. Those who fail to follow policy tend to find themselves no longer having those abilities.

Thanks Rivka, could you please link me to the policy concerning librarians and deletions of unpublished books? I cannot find it in the librarian manual, so I'm sure I'm missing something. I'm happy to follow any and all guidelines, and when made available and made clearly it certainly makes that easier to do. :) Thanks!

It is also worth noting that there are a number of reasons why the title of this thread specifies that deletions should be left for superlibrarians.

Perfectly understandable, I have no issue with it. I simply suggest that the librarian manual should be updated to reflect that, since it is given as a first-point of reference for librarians. It currently states that librarians are able to perform some deletions, which is contradictory and misleading. Thanks again!

Nothing contradictory and misleading about that. Librarians *are* able to perform some deletions (i.e. merges).

oh we are allowed to delete things ... e.g. non books (without ISBN/ASIN) or merging duplicates with less than 5 reviews.
But books which have a valid ISBN/ASIN are just a big no - for
librarians and supers.
That's why a librarian should read the manual and if in doubt just ask others :(
