Miss Mara | 156 comments I'm looking to fill one of my Goodreads shelves with books that have plot twists.

Some examples include:

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...)

also

(Don't You) Forget About Me by Kate Karyus Quinn (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...)

Thanks!!

This "Best Twists" list might have some good ideas - https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/5...

Are you looking for anything more specific - young adult vs. older adult, romance vs. no romance, etc.?

message 3: by Miss Mara (new)

Miss Mara | 156 comments I'm fine with any genre, and thank you!

Keith | 223 comments Some good ones from the sci-fi and fantasy genres:

Brandon Sanderson's The Final Empire
Iain M. Banks' Use of Weapons
Patricia McKillip's Riddle-Master (I normally think of this as a single book as that's how I read it, but the first big twist is at the end of the first individual book).

Lauren (laurenlb23) | 67 comments Genesis has a big plot twist at the end. Also, while it's only 150 pages, don't let the length fool you, it is very deep.
Genesis by Bernard Beckett

message 21: by Trillian (new)

Trillian | 77 comments Fingersmith by Sarah waters has a good plot twist, right in the middle.

message 22: by Michele (new)

Michele | 2420 comments An Instance of the Fingerpost is twisty, for sure. It presents essentially the same sequence of events but from four or five different viewpoints, and by the end you realize that what you thought happened might not be what happened at all.

Gosh, I need to re-read that...

Spoiler alert added to the topic header.

message 24: by Ceilidh (new)

Ceilidh (suitcasedragon) | 61 comments I'll toss in some for younger audiences:
White Cat by Holly Black (the next two books in the series are very twisty as well)
Return to Exile by E.J. Patten
The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen (although I think pretty much everyone knows that)
Cuckoo Song by Frances Hardinge (not so much for an individual instance, but the creepiness of the book and the uncertainty of everything)
Kingdom of Ash and Briars by Hannah West (I thought it was clever; many people disagree)

Hope that helps!

message 25: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Robinson | 37 comments Thomas by Robin Jarvis has several twists, including a major one near the end that changes how you view the previous events.

Uncle Silas

Good gothic novel. A very innocent teenage girl who has come into an inheritance, a very suspicious governess, a bizarre uncle, a long carriage ride that seems to be going somewhere (BUT IS IT???)....brace yourself for the shocks!
