Connie N. | 3775 comments Since I finished up one for this challenge, I naturally have to add another to my list. Jennifer, I pick Look What the Wind Blew In (Dig Site Mysteries, #1) by Ann Charles . I almost went with the deep blue of The Ragged Edge of Night, but I love that hint of a red sunset on this one.

My next five will help with a specific challenge:
First Earl I See Tonight (Debutante Diaries, #1) by Anna Bennett Every Time You Go Away by Beth Harbison The Juan Doe Murders (Smokey Brandon, #3) by Noreen Ayres Royal Treatment (His Royal Hotness, #2) by Tracy Wolff Memphis Ribs by Gerald Duff

message 456: by Jennifer (last edited Jul 11, 2020 05:14PM) (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Ha! I finished one too: Tea Cups and Carnage (A Tourist Trap Mystery, #7) (Audiobook) by Lynn Cahoon so I'm picking First Earl I See Tonight (Debutante Diaries, #1) by Anna Bennett for you because I'm a sucker for that blue/green mix.

My next five:
Between Black and White (McMurtrie and Drake Legal Thrillers, #2) by Robert Bailey The Ragged Edge of Night by Olivia Hawker The First Actress by C.W. Gortner A Story to Kill by Lynn Cahoon Dreaming in Chocolate by Susan Bishop Crispell

Okay, so it was short, but it was a heck of a ride. It was part of Amazon's Forward series which were all set in near- or distant-future ideas. Definitely worth the read.

Connie, I wasn't going to do this yet but then I noticed you have The Rhyme of the Magpie (Birds of a Feather Mystery, #1) by Marty Wingate in your choices and I've read a couple of books from this series and Potting Shed and liked them, so I'm picking that for you. (besides, how often am I going to get the chance to pick a book for you that doesn't have a scantily clad man on it?)

My next five:
Between Black and White (McMurtrie and Drake Legal Thrillers, #2) by Robert Bailey The First Actress by C.W. Gortner A Story to Kill by Lynn Cahoon Dreaming in Chocolate by Susan Bishop Crispell Red Sky over Hawaii by Sara Ackerman

I groaned out loud at this one LOL
I've enjoyed everything I've read by that author too. I was going to mention her First Edition Library series, but was afraid Jennifer would come after me with a wet noodle, so I won't :)

Jennifer I choose Dreaming In Chocolate. There's something about the title that just stuck out to me.

Once again these five are from my TBR list and I'll read the chosen book this month:

The Massacre of Mankind by Stephen Baxter The Song of Troy by Colleen McCullough Queen of Extinction (Queen of Extinction #1) by Gwynn White Truth or Beard (Winston Brothers, #1) by Penny Reid Deceived (Soul Keeper Series Book 1) by L.A. Starkey

message 489: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1895 comments I finally read the books that were chosen for me the last couple of months. I liked them both, but really liked The Lost Apothecary more than I thought I would. It was very hard to put down, which is always a good testimonial, imo :)

For any other Rachel Caine fans out there, I heard the other day that she has entered hospice care, and her doctors are not optimistic. That's not good news for those of us who enjoy her books :(

The Lost Apothecary, by Sarah Penner, finished 9/12 ★★★★
Paper and Fire (Great Library #2), by Rachel Caine, finished 9/16 ★★★.5

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) Barb, I like the cover of Limelight (Penny Green #1) by Emily Organ and it never hurts to have an "o" author in the lineup...

Justin | 4 comments stupid question but how do you guys get the covers to show with the hyperlink? when i preview my post the link doesnt magically manifest itself into a book cover?

message 496: by Connie N. (new)

Connie N. | 3775 comments Not a stupid question at all, Justin. It takes a while to catch on to the way Goodreads operates.

Click on "add book/author" at the top right of a new post. Then type in the title and hit search. At the bottom right, you'll see a choice between "link" and "cover."

Connie N. | 3775 comments Jennifer, if you haven't already read it, I choose A Most English Princess A Novel of Queen Victoria's Daughter by Clare McHugh . That bright bold blue cover jumped out at me. Let me know if you need a different pick because it's been a while since you posted your five.

I'm going to post some holiday books in the hopes that someone will make my choice for me--I can't make up my mind what to start with!
