Lost Planet Airman | 177 comments Hi, Tien!

Where would you classify "Conan the Cimmerian" (The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian lists as Conan the Cimmerian #1)?

Arguments could be made either for or against. Mostly "Attila the Hun" and "Jabba the Hutt" make me say "yes"...

Tien (tiensblurb) | 2306 comments Sorry, Mike, I've been at doctor's & hospital all weekend and don't really have the brain capacity right now so am happy for the mods to aid me here...

My thinking is that "[Name] The XXX" with "The XXX" more like a title or a reference to their origin and does not really form part of their name. 'the Hun', 'the Hutt, and even 'the Cimmerian' I don't think actually are their names as such, only as a distinguishing factor. I'm probably making no sense so I'd better stop here.

If Mods have any opinions, I'd welcome it as I don't really have time to look into this fully right now. Sorry & thanks!

Conan comes from Cimmeria - this is not his name, but an indication of his origin. So, "Conan the Cimmerian" is not a series name with just the name of the main character.

Personally, I'm bummed, but I bow to y'all's decision.

More importantly, Tien, get yourself well! Hope things are better soon.

Hi Celeste, graphic novels aren't disallowed however just keep in mind "No books with the main page genre Childrens or Kids may be used for the task. Your two books combined should have a total of at least 500 pages."

Thank you!

Bea Tien, Celeste: Since this task does not state that Graphic Novels are allowed, I do not think you can use them. (I have based this on rule 5 of Rules of the Challenge.)

5. Books whose main page lists any of these genres: Sequential Art, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga may only be used for 5, 10, and 15 point tasks unless specifically allowed in the task description for a higher point task.

Bea is correct. This task does not allow the use of graphic novels.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 2306 comments Sorry, Celeste! That was early morning for me the other day so I didn't think to check the overarching SRC rules.
