There’s a fan-edit that completely removes the Sandman from the film – even from the final showdown scene. Considering Sandman’s story only runs side-by-side with Peter’s and its only pay off is the unnecessary “who killed Uncle Ben” retread, I was delighted to see it go. I dig the actor and portrayal of Sandman, but it just didn’t need to be there. Emo Peter is bad, but not worse than go-nowhere storytelling.

Spider-man 3 is an okay watch, not the worst movie ever. but the “No Sandman Edition” fan edit is my ideal version. I just need to track it down again. Despite taking over $890 million worldwide, the large-budget and extensive promotion also meant the profits were down on previous entries and the film took an extensive battering from the critics at the time; reviewers and fans alike pointed to the crowded and unfocused plot as being far less engaging than Spider-Man 2, still regarded as being the best Spider-Man film so far” Could someone please translate this into English?

There was a fan edit that removed the venom parts of the film that I enjoyed. I’m sure it was a lot shorter and there were some holes because obivously there are moments that Venom had to be there but still I enjoyed that.
Yeah and it’s a bummer because so many things could have been good in this movie. Like you said, sandman was good, but he was unnecessary in this movie. With a plot and themes that made sense with the sandman arch and gave it time to develop they could have had a very compelling movie. They just needed to pick a thing and develop it, and sandman wasn’t given the opportunity to do that.
