Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Everyone got their first round books to review so far? You don't have to have all four books to review in front of you right now, but some people prefer that, and also sometimes they read in a different order than the one suggested above. Which is fine, as long as you submit one review per deadline as above.

You only need contact me at this point if you haven't received your first round book to review, at which point you can either post a message here, or contact me privately through Goodreads. Otherwise, if all is good, no need to speak up!

Have fun reading!

message 56: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) I'll also post a message here three days before each deadline as a friendly reminder, unless everyone's already met the deadline by then for a certain round.

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Thanks Darrell. I did enjoy the same book in a previous reading group, as well.

Darrell Nelson | 360 comments Thanks for the review, I'm glad you found the destruction of 10% of the rural economy, a winning idea.

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Now that's an idea Darrell!!

Darrell Nelson | 360 comments J.D.
No problem, so far I've been lucky this round, first two are really solid works.

message 67: by Dale (new)

Dale Rutter | 43 comments Hi,
I've just reviewed my first book Aethos: City of God by Brett Stadelmann but I can't seem to put the links in for my reviews. I have reviewed them on goodreads and both Amazons.

message 68: by Scott (last edited Jun 13, 2017 02:56PM) (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) I'm not a great computer geek either, but I find one of two ways works for me.

1. Wait for the Amazon review notifications to be emailed to you. Both the U.S. one and the U.K. one do this. Then click on the link to your review. Your review should be the only one that shows up on the webpage. Then copy the web address by dragging your cursor over it and blocking it off, then paste here. I find you only need to go up to the last number or letter in the only long alpha-numeric string just before the last slash, the rest after the slash is just gobblegook which will work also, but is not needed.

2. Same as above, but if you don't get email notifications, click on the book itself at Amazon, and you will see your review there (if enough time has passed for it to be processed). Click on the heading to isolate your review so you can again capture the web address as above. Post it here by pasting it.

3. As for Goodreads, it's easy. Just click on your review (it's processed instantly) and get the web address, and copy and paste, and viola!

Some people are good at showing the web address as a phrase, such as "Amazon US review" which anyone else can click on while viewing the post. I admit I don't know how to do that. But you don't need to.

Dale Rutter | 43 comments Thank you Scott! Very simple thanks to your clear instructions! My reviews are above now.
Thanks again.

message 72: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Thanks Darrell!! That's two down for you. You too, Dale for posting your first review.

Amazon:

I've really lucked out in this round with some great reads.

message 74: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Well done, Darrell! Yes, it's a good feeling, isn't it?

Basically you type in some HTML. Let's see if I can get it to print... without getting translated...

< a href = "the link" > the text < / a >

Remove the space after the first less than sign, around the equals sign, and all the spaces between the second less than and second greater than sign. If that makes any sense. :)

It's really easy to do if you know how.

message 77: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) And that's one for you, Watson. Much appreciated the tips on how to label web links!

Watson Davis (watson_davis) | 48 comments Scott wrote: "And that's one for you, Watson. Much appreciated the tips on how to label web links!"

No problem.

But that's 2 down for me. Moving on to Maya by Isabella Bedi.

message 79: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) Hi all, except for Watson, Dale, Darrell, and myself, this is a reminder to post your first round review within three days, as Thursday is the deadline.

Again, a review may be out of order, as long as it's one of your four assigned books, and the first round deadline is not an absolute deadline; that would be the final fourth round deadline for all four books, but it's nice to continue the progress.

message 81: by Darrell (new)

Darrell Nelson | 360 comments Brent,
No problem.
The stories inspired me to write a short story imagining the world if there was no sliced bread.

message 82: by Scott (new)

Scott Spotson (scottspotson) But Darrell, that would be catastrophic! We would no longer be able to brag, "My story is the greatest invention since sliced bread."

message 83: by Darrell (new)

Darrell Nelson | 360 comments That's how alternative history stories work, there is always a trade off. Healthy populations, no war and famine, people feeling a oneness with the universe, ect, but not being able to brag about the greatest thing since sliced bread.
It's not for the author to judge which is better, merely to point out what the alternatives are.

Apologies.

Maya by Isabella Bedi

It's very strange. I posted my review on Amazon US and then went to Amazon UK, and my review was already there. So I'm just posting the one link.
