Book: Call Me Irresistible|Susan Elizabeth Phillips|08.13.17|✿✿✿✿
Task: Spot #85, #5 in Series = Wynette, Texas #5
Pages: 385
Brief Review:
What a crazy, funny story! Meg tries to help out her best friend Lucy, when she thinks Lucy is making the biggest mistake of her life by marrying the irresistible Ted Beaudine. When Lucy leaves Ted at the altar, the town of Wynette turns on Meg and everyone is out to get her.
Down on her luck, stranded and broke, Meg must rely on her own wits to find her way out of this mess, while avoiding the pitfall of falling in love with Mr. Irresistible as well.
I've struggled with this series in the past, but this book brought it back to life for me. Full of the ever-present trademark of comedy and wit Susan Elizabeth Phillips is known for, it is just laugh-out-loud funny, but also has it's tender moments.
A solid 4 stars!

How it fits: Carus #5
Review: This was the final book in the Carus series. It has been awhile since I read the earlier books, but this book seemed very silly. Andy has been captured by the government and given a drug that keeps her from shifting. She manages to escape and plans her revenge. She has a big loss to deal with but finds her brother. She learns more about her powers. It was an easy read but I get the feeling this book was written just to tie up loose ends and felt rushed. I'm glad this series is over.

How it fits: The Mortal Instruments #5
Review:
I don't know why I keep reading these books. It's not like I really enjoy them, most of the time I just tolerate them. But it's like a sickness and I can't stop a series once I start. I just have this need to know what happens, no matter how bad! That being said, this one wasn't as horrible as the last but I was annoyed through most of it.
Book 5 of the Mortal Instruments series has the gang split. Jace is evil (kinda? maybe?). Clary is on a suicide mission (again). Simon is following girls (sometimes Clary, sometimes Isabelle, sometimes randoms). And Alec is moping in his mortality. But yet, they all manage to come together and save the day....yay...?
I've realized what one of my major issues with this series is. Clary. No matter how stupid she is, or how bad of a decision or selfish of a decision she makes, she always comes out as being right. Who cares what anyone else wants, right? For once, I just want her to make a decision that screws her over royally. Because seriously, it's getting ridiculous. And her whole reasoning of "I did it because I love you" is bullshit.
This also leads into the Jace/Clary relationship. I will admit, I shipped it in the beginning. But even by the end of the trilogy, I was already over it. The fourth book kind of cemented the fact that I just do not want them together... at all.
Simon was a little better in this than the last, but seriously dude, get the fuck over Clary because it's annoying and you're going to lose Isabelle - who is the shinning star of this series right now. Even Alec and Magnus's story arc improved.
I will give it to Clare - Sebastian is a good character. He has so many sides and you never seem to know where he stands or exactly what he wants. There's layers and depth - something that the other characters tend to lose. So it will be interesting to see how it ends with him.
Will I continue? It's me, of course I will. I mean, there's only one more here and I've heard wonderful things about the spin-offs. But man, getting through these last two has been like pulling teeth.

How it fits: Jack Daniels Mystery #8
Stirred by J.A. Konrath 8/9/17
Rating: 5 stars

Review:
So this is the finally of the series. Well, it was supposed to be...
This book was one wild ride! A good detective vs the bad guy story meets the Saw movies. In other words, F***ed Up! (in a good way). Bad guys are coming out of the woodwork, conspiracies we didn't know were conspiracies are popping up and to top it all, Jack is heavily pregnant and having all types of medical problems that come with being pregnant at an older age (I forgot how old she is, mid-late 40's).
Authors J.A. Konrath and Black Crouch team up together to write this book. It's a culmination of their respective series, the Jack Daniels Mysteries and the Andrew Z. Thomas/Luther Kite series. Not having read any of BC's work, I was unfamiliar with his characters. This made it kind of tough in the beginning of the book as there is a whole lot of tie-in's to, not just the series books, but a few of the short fiction written with these characters. But I quickly caught on and it was non-stop craziness! The authors did create an awesome ebook though, where they hyperlinked the characters so you could see what books they were in and a bit of info on them.
I don't think I'll ever end up reading BC's series, now that I know how f'ed up they are and I've read the ending for all intents and purposes, but I'd be interested in reading some of his standalones. And even though JK has written a few more Jack Daniels stories, I think I'll leave this as the end.... Or will I? :-D

This book was a good ending to the series. I love Lucy's character and how she deals with all of the drama in her life. The mystery was complex and well done. I had no idea who was behind the kidnappings and murder. The ending was perfect and I especially liked how things wrapped up for the McDaniel kid.

I wasn't in the mood to read this, but I'm glad I did. It starts with a boat shipwrecked on the island, and I was curious from the beginning about what happened and the relationships between the survivors. And although I guessed some, there were some things that never crossed my mind. I love how the author brings legends and fairytales into her books.

Two teams rolled past 100 so far so this is the end of the round. I added all of our bonus points to the roll but it was not enough to get us past 100. You do not need to read for spot 96 since we do not have a chance of winning. I doubt one of the two teams who rolled past 100 so far will have a problem finishing in time. I enjoyed playing this round with all of you ladies!
Well great job team! We still did awesome. I'm glad we don't need to read because 9 & 6 suck! Lol!This is the first time I've stuck to just series books. This is my most favoritest team game! I play my own version in between games. :-D
