Book about two siblings going through worlds like a conch shell

There were two siblings, boy and girl, who went to maybe an uncle's house? A Victorian? And somehow started going through rooms or worlds, like a conch shell. There was one part where the girl drew a picture of her kissing a prince, and she had to leave off his nose because the princess' nose was already drawn- then later that comes to life.

This is either The Swing in the Summerhouse or The Diamond in the Window. Both are by Jane Langton. They are the first two in a series of books with odd adventures. I lean toward The Swing in the Summerhouse, because I think it is Prince Krishna who inspires Eleanor to draw the picture. The problem of the nose is definitely part of this!
